Drakensberg House

Beautiful scenery. The view of the mountains from our room window was breathtaking.  Delicious buffet breakfast and dinner. Absolutely warm and inviting fireplace at reception and at the restaurant. All in all , it was an awesome experience.

The atmosphere is wonderful. From taking a boat ride on the lake to trail walks. 
Excellent service all round for breakfast, lunch  and dinner. The employees are always polite and efficient. The food is excellent, buffet for dinner. 
Other lovely places close by to visit.

Lovely resort, with lots of activities on-site and close by. The canoeing on the dam was a highlight with many species of birds to photograph. Games room could be upgraded with more options for cold days. Housekeepers were very thorough in their cleaning and all was well maintained. We loved our stay and would definitely go back.

There are 12 timeshare chalets in the Drakensberg Sun complex. They are separate from the hotel in a wooded area and are self catering units. The units have a wonderful setting facing the mountains with large trees inbetween the chalets holding lots of bird life. Our unit can accommodate 8 visitors in two bedrooms, a loft and  the lounge. The units have two bathrooms and a kitchen and dining room, and a magnificent balcony with a table and a braai fireplace so that you can eat level with the top of the trees. The units are fully serviced by the cleaning staff. We ate at the hotel on one night and braaied for ourselves on others. 
You have to be prepared to climb a lot of stairs if you want to stay in these units as they are on the side of a hill and our unit has five different floor levels. ad a wonderful stay.

we had a wonderful 3 night stay there during load shedding. The hotel is situated in the mountains in one of the most beautiful places in the WORLD. Service was exceptional, the food was excellent - highly recommended.

Thank you to the staff at the hotel for the amazing service. The team went beyond the call of duty by packing our breakfast to go when we were leaving at 7am. They packed such an amazing breakfast that our child was quiet and had enough treats to keep him happy for a 5hr drive home.
Huge thanks to Chris, Cindy and the rest of the team on duty this weekend. I would recommend the hotel as one of the best.

There is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at this stunning hotel . Everybody enjoys their job here because they look so happy and friendly . From the GM to the towel lady at the pool . All friendly , asking how you are and if you are enjoying your stay . Rooms ...... the best . Huge and very well maintained . Best bed I slept in , in a long while💤💤 . The gardens look awesome . The facilities are the best ...... swimming pool , tennis courts , spa , boat rides on the lake , daily entertainment programme , spa , hiking trials  ...... the list goes on . A SPECTACULAR VIEW !!!!! Then our highlight .... THE FOOD . Breakfast is the best ..... Dinner even beter . No where have I seen a buffet spread like that at dinner . Dont have words to describe dinner . Wow wow wow ! 👏👏👏

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in the Drakensberg so decided to go back for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Drakensberg Sun did not disappoint. Beautiful setting, lovely food, good service. Highly recommended for some peace and quiet. The only complaint I have is that even though we advised the hotel upfront that it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary, nothing was planned. I would have expected a little something extra on our special occasion.

I spent a week at this resort with my kids. The atmosphere is so refreshing, the staff so friendly and the food is amazing. There is a lot of activities to do around the resort from playing sports, hiking trails, going to the spa and the kids have an entertainment area where they can be occupied all day.

The service at the restaurant is excellent. Every single staff member was accommodating and friendly. Check in was great except for Rashida who is very friendly with certain race groups and not so much with others. Enquiring about the water was met with a frown and blunt answer when I chatted to her. The rooms on the ground floor are nice but the noise levels outside was disturbing. I would prefer a quieter, higher room in future. While the rooms were relatively clean, there was hair from the previous occupants in the bathroom and towel and the counters had coffee stains which I had to wipe. The carpets do need a deep clean as they feel grimes underfoot and we insisted on my child keeping her shoes on. The hotel is old and needs some maintenance. The reception couches need some cleaning. The buffet was dismal on Friday night but there was improvement on Saturday night. I would rate the hotel 3 star and with some minor tweaks, and more care I believe it can be restored to its former glory. Well done to the ground staff as the gardens and pool area are beautifully maintained.

Check in process was excellent, Reception looks very good. Dining area excellent. Rooms are clean but the furniture is very old and having some cracks. Entrance door including locking mechanism is also old. The room that i chose was the deluxe room but its not deluxe at all. I paid a premium for that room i.e. R3950.00 per night but it doesnt deserve that price yet its 4 Star rated. I doesnt deserve the 4 Star rating but 3 Star. The facilities at the hotel are great.

Drakensberg sun timeshare

Been to this hotel many many times.  The hotel feels cosy and comfortable but quite dated. 
Very little has changed over the last 20 years. The hotel could do with some upgrades. 
Good quality food and staff were extremely attentive and accommodating. We stayed 4 nights and didn’t feel that the service slipped. 
At checkout, were overcharged for dinner which was already included in the room rate. It took quite a long time for the manager to refund the payment.
Despite a few issues all was good. 
We always feel very at home at Drakensberg Sun.

Epic berg getaway 

Beautiful Resort ,clean and friendly staff. 
Food was great from breakfast to dinner.
There is a lot of activities to do with the kids in the area some walking distance from the resort. 
Hiking available to do almost everyday to different areas.
House keeping, not so great at all those carpets need to be cleaned in the rooms. We had a beautiful view of the mountains from our room.

Overall good place and we enjoyed our stay
