Yes the hotel is under renovations, but it’s still a beautiful place to stay. They are updating the hotel but keeping it a piece of history.

Room was spacious, the man at the counter (the only staff I interacted with) was very helpful and kind, and the place was clean! Makes me wish we had a little more time to spend in the hotel, so I could've gotten one of the more fun rooms on offer.

Always cool place to stay, 2nd time I've stayed here, will absolutely do it again.Price is good and the rooms are interesting, very fun!

Friendly staff and great room designs. For age of property rooms and hotel were clean.

Our room was awesome stayed in the casino Royale room. It had a great tub with lots of room around it. The view from our room was a little snow covered woods. The shower showed signs of age but was clean. The man at the front desk was very nice. The breakfast was good. Not a lot of grab and go options but the hot food was good. the building itself is very unique and interesting has a huge indoor fireplace. The pool and hot tub were a little rough but clean And we still had a great time in both.

The owner was amazing. He was very accommodating and helpful.

Very nice.  Could be cheaper for the state of the rooms. They are outdated.

It was great.  Next time i will get a fantasy room

Such an interesting destination.   The owner gave us a tour of the unoccupied theme rooms.  They are vintage and so well done.   Our regular room was large and clean. The lobby has a large fireplace that the owner lit for us.  If you are in the area or looking for something out of the ordinary, try Don Q inn

One of a kind

Walking through the doors is a step back in time. The entry features a round fireplace surrounded by antique barber chairs. We were invited to join everyone around the fire in the evening. That's just the start. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The property is old but has been well maintained.

Our stay was perfect! The staff was so friendly and helpful and made our stay an experience we’ll never forget. The atmosphere promotes nostalgia at every turn but still offers computer/Wi-Fi access, an outdoor/indoor pool, and a hot tub. The decor and unique fireplace add a warm, cozy touch. Whether it’s a vacation with the kids or a couple’s night away from home, the Don Q has you covered. We’ll be back!

The hotel is older and could use some updates, but my room was clean and the service was good. The front desk staff and owners were very friendly, and the area felt safe. I appreciated the continental breakfast, and there was ample parking available. Plus, there’s a jacuzzi and pool, which are nice amenities to enjoy.

My fiance and I stay here twice a year when we come to see House on the Rock. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. It's got a quirky charm that we enjoy every bit as much as the local attractions. Anyone complaining about things being "dated" doesn't understand the magic of the place. We'll definitely be back!

I admit I was a little skeptical about reserving a room for my family at the Don Q Inn because of their "fantasuites", which I usually associate with the type of hotel that rents rooms by the hour. However, I glad that didn't stop me, because we loved it. It is so quirky and has a lot of personality. Everything looked clean, and the staff was pleasant. We didn't check out the pool or the game room, but I loved the huge round fire place (sadly no fire in it in mid-October) in the lobby ringed with vintage barber chairs. If you want everything cookie cutter and looking like it was just 3D printed yesterday, this isn't the place for you, but if you enjoy a little kitsch, give it a try!

The first thing that struck me about this hotel was not the aircraft on the law (I expected that), but it was the amazing staff. They could not do enough to help me enjoy my experience, from eating recommendations, or directions to the house on the rock, one of the quirkiest attractions I have ever seen.
What can I say about the hotel? It has a nice games room, fantastic decor (from a cheese vat fireplace to barber chair seating in the lounge). There are fantasy rooms, decent pool, pleasant grounds. Did I say it used to be an airfield building (the old runway is adjacent)  and before that was a railway station.
The whole place is themed as an old barn style building with lots of history on the walls.
A bit tired in places, but there are signs they are refreshing the rooms.

If you like plain this is not for you - this is superb quirkiness

The theming was charming, and the Inn itself is a classic part of any Midwesterner's experience at the House on the Rock. It was great to see it thriving so many years since I first stayed as a child. It's a little kitschy, but the theming is fun and my experience overall was much better than I anticipated! I would return again.

This place is "unique" and I mean that literally.  I defy anyone to find a hotel/motel with a lobby full of a couple dozen barber/beautyshop chairs circled around a fireplace.  Add in an old-fashioned dentist chair . . . with a Vintage old transport airplane in the front yard.  I expected to see Howard Hughes in the cockpit.  Ther are a bunch of "theme" rooms--but we didn't stay in one of them.  Not my style, but I'd like to see what they were like.  The place sounds pretty weird, but its basics are sound and the management if courteous, available and attentive.  There's a nice-looking chain motel across the street.  But for similar price, why choose plain and ordinary when you can get a little strange but interesting.
