Everything is haut de game.
The service is perfect. All the diversions, pool table, Spa.
The dinner was the best ever.
For once, the client does not have to worry if the personnel can actually deliver what they are boasting about.

I loved the place and will go again.

Would have preferred to have more options in the evenings other than the small restaurant. Such as snack food and a bar for chilling if we had eaten our main meal for the day already at lunch. We thought the location was lovely, the room extremely comfortable and the reception from the staff to be very good. Would recommend to any friend looking for a quiet escape for a few days.

Lovely piece of Heaven - but lack of choices

We enjoyed our stay so much for my husbands birthday gift! Excellent decoration and ambiance, lovely walks in the grounds and amazing views from the terrace. Great breakfast and meals! Thanks for a relaxing stay!

Loved it!

I enjoyed my short stay, arriving at 20h00 and already leaving at 11h00 the next day.
The dinner and breakfast were really nice, service very friendly and room was clean and well decorated. Getting there in the dark was quite challenging, but worth the trip with the beautiful views! I would suggest arriving before dark, though :)

I didn't choose this hotel but a friend who lives in the north of Reunion chose it, it was magical,
very nice park with the possibility to feed deer, very nice room with a beautiful view, intense vegetation, very friendly and professional staff, it was a dream stay.

Magical

We stayed here as part of a 3 hotel, week-long tour of Reunion, walking the Cirques & seeing the sights. After the 5* service and quality of Mauritius the previous week (and again now we’re back there at another 5* hotel) then the Diana Dea was put into sharp perspective. It’s average at best. Plenty of things which could be done far better, including cleaning up the bird sh1t in the breakfast room (my wife managed to get it on her hand from the breakfast bread buffet!!! Ugh) to keeping rodents out of the bar, pretty little things though they are. Food is ENORMOUSLY overpriced and pretty average quality - we regarded €35 per main and €25 per starter excessive for the fare. But they know they have you captive up a single track lane, very dark and difficult to negotiate st night especially when one meets another vehicle. So the overriding feeling in one of attempted exploitation of their guests. We can’t comment in dessert - waited 20 minutes after asking for the menu, only to be completely ignored. So we gave up. 

Rooms ok, though you can’t stand under a shower - hand held in the bath only. Towels are threadbare & small. Spa is tiny and treatments, like the food, overpriced. 

Hotels on Reunion are significantly lower in quality than those on Mauritius; difficult to fathom exactly why other than perhaps a French colonial arrogance. The Diana Dea disappointed on many levels.

Overpromises, under-delivers.

A curious place. Set well out of the way up winding, single track lanes of the Chemin Helvetia, with few passing places, it’s a hairy drive in and out, and a feeling of being somewhat trapped in the middle of nowhere as a result. In truth, if you’re staying on Reunion for a holiday and to see the sights then there’s no need nor reason to stay here - it could be in the Cotswolds or the English Lakes.

It’s described as a spa hotel - the spa facilities are limited and hugely overpriced. €90 for a 50 minute massage is enormous compared with normal spa hotel pricing. The facility itself is very very small - even the few staff are tripping over themselves in there. The pool is pleasant enough (though it could be bigger were it not for the fact that half of it seems to have been given over to koi carp and a couple of terrapins) - beware the slipperiness underfoot on the decking when it’s wet; it needs a good jet wash. 

Very nice rooms though openplan to include the bathroom, and irritatingly there’s only a hand-held shower, and nowhere to suspend it on the wall. As a result then the only ways of showering are either sitting in the bathtub or asking a friendly partner/spouse to hold it over you whilst kneeling in there, and even then the bath area does get rather wet. Our room had cockroaches in the bedside unit drawers, which wasn’t particularly pleasant. And there was a dripping down pipe outside the room which managed to keep us awake all night on our first night - on the second then a strategically dumped pool towel in the area where it leaked to dampened the noise sufficiently to allow slumber.

Then we come to the food and restaurant. The dinner menu is extremely limited, and apparently doesn’t change very much from month to month. So you’ll struggle for variety for anything more than a couple of days stay. Remember, they have you captive up this hill and winding lane, and they know it. The prices are huge - around €25 for a starter, €35 for a main course and €15 for dessert - which would be just about acceptable if the food was truly superb, but here it’s average at best. Don’t be tempted to have the chicken ‘carry’ under any circumstances - it was difficult to ascertain which regions of the scrawny animal had been chosen for mine, amongst the skin, bone, fat & gristle. The French in the 1970s had the best chefs in the world - since then hey have descended into the crevasse of mediocrity at an alarming rate. Service was pretty poor - our plates were cleared away and we were asked if we would like dessert.......only to subsequently be ignored for the next 20 minutes, before we decided to decamp to the bar with the remnants of our Pouilly Fume (€36). 

Breakfast was average - the usual European fare of cheese and cold meats and fruit, though less variety than in other hotels on our trip to Reunion and Mauritius. The waitress was more interested in having our room number (asked 3x for it this morning) than serving.....and it’s difficult to know why given no-one, surely, would drive all the way up to the Diana Dea simply to scrounge a free breakfast. 

All in all then the experience of the Diana Dea for us was pretty average to poor, and we wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re looking for expensive isolation in a hillside hotel. 

Curiously average, at best. With significant faults.

It is a bit of a road to get there but once you pass the gate you inter in a private reserve. Wonderfull. Large room with big bath tube in the room with a view outside.  

If you like to have peaceful stay, it is just the perfect outpost.

The food is excellent too.

Having lived in Réunion for fifteen years I have witnessed a lot of 'je m'enfichisme' and poor performances in the service industry.

I could not believe my eyes entering to Diana Dea Lodge.
Already the road up there is a mystical experience. We met deers. They work for the hotel.

Arriving to the hotel, the 'accueil' was prompt, no problem, efficient.
The rooms actually had a view on the ever-changing scenery of the Indian Ocean.
Now many rainbows did we see!

The rooms were clean, recently furnished, fresh.
The pool was heated. Nicely situated, again with a view to the Ocean.
Breakfast was generous and of good quality.

We had dinner, it was very good (from the preset menu). The waiter was knowledgeable and very considerate with the 'dynamic' kids. We ate well.

There were quite a few channels on the TV but since I only used it to get some sleep, it did not matter for me. The open Wi-Fi was too slow to be practical but that's why people have 4Gs. 

I have to mention again the quality of the service. The staff was really trying to make a point of their availability and professionalism.

If ever I'd try to impress a lady, I'd take her to Diana Dea lodge.
It actually is that good.

Is this really in Réunion? Perfection!

We really enjoyed our stay. The setting, the rooms as well as the food were excellent! The first night of our stay the dinner was really special with excellent the food, a fire place and some piano music in the background. The second night's  dinner, which was suppose to be the Cherry on the cake was however not so good. The food and service were still excellent, Our table tucked away in a in a corner with no atmosphere whatsoever was however a down let. Regards.
