Dee Lake Wilderness Resort

This place is absolutely amazing.  Went for the first time in July 2022 and loved it so much came back for this trip.  BOTH the Cabins and Cottages are a great option. Have everything you need (except bedding) and its so amazing to hear JUST nature.  There are a bunch a places to explore by walking, or rent a boat from the resort and you have access to THREE lakes.  Caught some nice rainbow trout, and got to explore the the amazing area with awesome science views.  It is easy to find with signage that marks where to drive once you get off the city street.  I would say the best part though is they allow DOGS!

We are coming to Dee Lake for years, but this year was the best
Fishing trip we ever had. My husband, our grandson and I stayed in July for a week. The guys fished every Day and our grandson kept track how many fish they cached, total of fish 112. Some 12-14”.
Most of the time we are staying in one of the Cottages and we just love it. The Cottages are wonderful, quiet, fabulous view and relaxing. 
The owners and staff are very friendly and welcoming, they always there to help. Dee Lake is a place, where you can relax and we always enjoyed our time there.

Absolutely stunning and untouched. The lake is gorgeous, and the campground staff are very hospitable. As far as activities are concerned, there's plenty to do, including swimming, boating, and exploring. Highly recommend either a day trip or overnight visit.

My boyfriend and I rented a cabin that was near the lake, upon arrival the staff was very welcoming and kind, and the resort was beautiful. 

The drive out to Dee Lake was beautiful, and our cabin was great. 

Was definitely a great weekend, and we already want to plan a trip back there next summer! 

We went up to Dee Lake for a weekend-long wedding, and it was one of the best weddings I've ever been to. The scenery was beautiful, the stars were amazing, and the accommodating and helpful staff were just amazing. They even came down and jammed with us later on in the evening!

We stayed in one of the full service cabins and we were so happy. Remember to bring your own water, bedding, towels, etc. But other than that, everything was provided. There were even puzzles, board games, and a crib board! And we were able to rent boats for the day for a very reasonable price ($10 an hour if I recall) to go zipping about the chain of lakes. 

Honestly, I would recommend them in a heart beat. The location can't be beat, and neither could the wonderful folks who own it!

We stayed in cabin #29 and rented one of the resort fishing boats for a few days. Worth every minute! 

Was so nice to hear birds, and nothing else. The best. We were even entertained by an epic thunder and lightening storm one night.

The staff we met were helpful, professional, and down-to-earth. 

No cell service or internet at the cabin, so you really are on your own. We loved this! Bring a deck of cards, games and/or a portable hobby.

Wifi can be purchased, but it is limited to the immediate area around the convenience store and is only "open" at certain times. 

The convenience store has very little in terms of staples, so plan to bring up everything you need. If you crave chocolate or candy, it's the place to be. The store has open and closed, but the resort is so casual that we ended up having to knock on staff doors, as per placed signage, to have it opened up so we could shop.

The water that comes out of the taps is not safe to drink, but we brought so much water with us that it wasn't a problem. 

If you plan on fishing, do a little research because the lake is full of fish that love to bite, but they are really picky about what they want to bite! 

In terms of cabin #29 specifically:

- The cabin layout is awesome. Great views. Would definitely book again.

- Stocked with all the cookware you need. From cutlery and can openers to muffin pans! Bring your own tupperwear though.

- The cabin was clean enough, but don't expect 5 star hotel perfection. Think rustic outdoors. We were greeted by some dead bugs on window sills, dust, and floors that could have used a more thorough clean.

- The dock infront of cabin #29 is broken and unsafe. If you walk too far out onto it, the front of the dock tips down into the water, fast. 

- The sofa bed is pretty much garbage to sleep on...ouch! If we stayed at this cabin again we would bring an inflateable mattress.

- If you have young children like us, you probably won't be using the top bunk as a sleeping space. We used it for clothes and sleeping bag storage. The ladder has widely spaced rungs and the top bunk is really high! (cool and custom, but not great for super young kids).

-  With kids, a bathtub would have been ideal, but we made it work.

- If we book again, we'll be bringing our fire safety gate. Only because we have young children. The wood fireplace takes up an entire corner of the cabin and is very easy to bump into/be curious about.  It would be amazing if the resort could rent or provide fireplace safety guards. Our 4 year old burnt her hand on the last day. We had put the fire out, but the fireplace itself was still hot. Live and learn, but it could have been much worse.

- The water isn't potable, but we didn't skip a beat because we brought so much up. We only used bottle water for coffee, brushing teeth, cooking etc.. We used the water out of the tap to wash dishes and had no issues. 

Recommendations:

- Bring all the medicines, medical creams etc. you might need, along with a good first aid kit and a first aid book. Ideally a first aid book with photos.

- Bring walkie talkies. It's the only way to find/check-in with eachother.

- Bring basic stuff you might need if things go sideways. Like a backroads map (evacuation), hatchet, flashlights etc.

A little different from most wilderness resorts, Dee is a bit rougher and more rustic. Cabin was great, supplied with wood for the wood stove. Beds were clean and comfortable. Lots of dishes pots pans etc. The overall vibe of the place is laid back and chill.. The host Dave is quite the character and really fun to chat with. As for fishing well... Wasn't great, lol but that can be said about anyplace given the fish may or may not be biting.. Channel is shallow and almost everybody hit bottom with their prop, including myself so wasnt happy about that.. And as there is no lighting at night... Holy Blackness..  Overall I recommend t and will be back. whether its camping or just fishing and shoot the bull with Dave..

Having done some research on this resort, I was extremely excited to hear that our recent planned outing with the Vernon ATV club, we would be going near the resort. The reviews were not wrong. The setting is spectacular, with peace and tranquillity aplenty. I am going to look into renting a cabin next season, as this truly is getting away from it all.
The grounds looked immaculate.

Rustic cabin experience, beautiful wilderness. A boat rental to tool around the lakes is highly recommended! We were here for a friend's wedding, what a beautiful setting. I will visit this place again.

Just returned from a day trip up to Beaver Lake and Dee Lake. Never again will I venture up Beaver Lake Rd. The road is horrendous. Pot holes that go on for miles. Broken asphalt and pot holes in the early few kilometres. When the road turns to gravel, it is far worse. I really think one of my kidneys shook loose.
Do not travel this road in a passenger car. I have a full size 4x4 pick up and I will have to take it in for a bumper to bumper tightening. Two great resorts up here. Beaver Lake and Dee Lake resorts. I have been to both over the years and they are both wonderful places to take your family for a weekend or more. I don't understand how they are accepting the deterioration of the only road to their properties. I would withhold my property tax until the road is fixed. Let me know and I will return. Gave the resort a 1 star only because the road is so poor
