Curitiba Eco Hostel

Pleasant hostel, intelligently planned. Deserving of its status as a benchmark for hosteling in Brazil. Rose is an exemplary host/manager. We arrived at 1130pm, she was still around and oriented us to the entire hostel before going home. She arranged private transport for hostel guests to the AUS vs. ESP World Cup match when the public bus didn't arrive, and did not charge us for it. She collected mail for us and provided excellent communication prior to our arrival via email. Room had basic appointments, decent quality. Bathroom adequate. Excessive light from outside in room at night and frequent noise from street. Heater in room very welcome and needed. Decent quality breakfast, reasonable range and good quantity. Hostel is set on large plot of land with pleasant gardens and a pool, rooms at back may be quieter than ours was. Extensive common areas, pleasant to relax. Location is quite far from centre, which is an issue for going out at night. Cab from Praça Tiradentes at night is about 40BRL. Room price was expensive, however it was during the World Cup. Free WiFi throughout, very fast and reliable. I would stay here again. DETAILS: Group of friends, 3 males, mid-20's. 2 nights in a private quadruple room with bathroom, breakfast included. June 2014 (n.b. DURING WORLD CUP). Paid US$450 total (i.e $225/night).
