Whilst the staff were friendly and food tasty this place should be shutdown until repairs are completed. 

I was upgraded as the standard room had damp patches in the bedroom and bathroom, half a mirror and sand on the toilet seat in the bathroom. The executive room was spacious but all night I could hear dripping water from the pipes in the hallway. 

Buckets in corridors, water dripping from many places in the dining room and cracked, bowed ceilings in the rooms with family patches everywhere, this hotel is a dump. It also does not offer a few airport shuttle so please do not fall for thatbwhen booking.

Words cannot do justice to how awful this place was!
The rooms were disgusting - the sheets looked filthy, the pillows were hard and uneven and even the floors were covered in dirt. The entire night there was loud music pumping through the complex, tvs being blasted at full volume in reception and then prayers first thing in the morning. Both the communal and ensuite toilets were disgusting - mostly blocked or leaking. And the whole place felt unsafe and stank of hot fat from the kitchen.
Breakfast was of an equally low quality.
We booked through booking.com but when we arrived were told the rooms we'd booked (3 doubles) were not available. Instead we were given the option of single rooms or triple and yet the owner tried to charge us more than the price quoted online for a 'deluxe double' and removed one of the included breakfasts! Then the exchange rate used turned out to be equally ridiculous - 10% higher than anywhere else. 
It was by far the lowest value place I stayed in Malawi, Africa and the World. AVOID!

Disgusting, noisy and overpriced

Myself and my father checked into the crown lodge for 2 nights. When we arrived there were huge piles of burning rubbish outside the hotel and we felt quite unsafe. We left the hotel for around 3 hours and when we returned someone had opened the locked door of our room and ransacked our belongings. There was a lot stolen and whilst the manager helped us to call the police and accepted that a member of staff with a key was responsible for the he was not really of any use and did not apologise. Really not a place for tourists to stay.
