The Crossways 

Lovely country pub in the middle of nowhere. Hard enough to get to, the lane is sooooo very long, its an exhausting drive on a narrow lane from Shepton Mallet, equally tough coming from Glastonbury too. The pub is very big, an Old Coaching Inn, the service and management are excellent. Nothing was too much trouble, although when I first booked it, I had expected the worst as I had problems. The room was lovely it was big and at the quieter end of the pub, up 6 stairs, next to the Hair Salon. Yes, this place has it all! Booked originally because my partner had a works party that night and for him being Autistic, the room was easier for him to cope with than the evening and having somewhere to bolt to when it got too much. I had thought of it all and we needed that room so much come the end of the evening. I wasn't allowed to sit with the party, so I had dinner in the dining room with him before they arrived, that was delicious and the service once again was perfect! The bed was hard, but I had asked for extra duvet and pillows and with that, the bed was more comfortable and I slept well, It was very quiet room 123, and over looked the side of the pub. The walk in waterfall shower with extra power hose, was amazing, although the temp did fluctuate a bit, it wasn't a big deal. It was hot and it did the job to getting me moving that morning. Breakfast came with the room price and we had a cooked to order breakfast, continental was help yourself in the bar area. Very good food, and very pleasant surroundings. Check in and check out was very easy, and the business is very transparent when it came to finishing the bill with them. I will definitely return for a break, certainly out in the sticks, but for a relaxing break with no where to go, this is the place to be, surrounded by bird song and countryside.
