First Impression of the motel wasn't that good. There was a car that had flat tires. Had a hard time getting in contact with somebody to check me in because the phone in the office was dead. Room that I finally got was better than I had expected. No real complaints about the furniture. Electric baseboard heat for the room warm. Older style television. Room was too far away from office to get a wifi signal. Only real complaint was with the towels in the bathroom. They were really worn out and ragged looking. Hardees across the street.

Mildly Surprised

What can I say the price is right, but that is about all that is right with this place.  The word dumpy keeps coming to mind.  Linens seemed clean, bed was not comfortable.  No night stand, no alarm clock, no shampoo, no desk staff on duty, no restaurant, no WI-FI.  They have an old-school rickety TV with pirated cable and a remote that doen't work.  A mini fridge and microwave was in the room and a table & two chairs.  Dingy carpet & dingy, small bathroom.  It's in a good location but then again Rushville is only a couple square miles.  This place will get you by for one night just keep your expectations low.

Dumpy Dive - But about the only game in town

The good, the bad and the ugly. A MUST READ! The good is that the Green Gable Motel was once owned by a kind older couple. I have been staying at the Green Gable for the past ten years. Though there is nothing fancy about the Green Gabel, it was clean and quiet. The owners were kind and fair, and the price was great. However, that has all changed. 
About two years ago (2018) the long time owners, retired. A younger couple started managing it and they continued with the tradition of being kind and fair. Though I have to say the place started to show signs of wear and tear and not being as clean as it once was, and the price went up a bit.  
However, as of 2020 things have drastically changes. I was informed years ago that the Crossroads motel not far from the Green Gable has roaches and bedbugs. It was not a nice place to stay, so you can imagine my concern when I discovered that the owners of the Crossroads purchased the Green Gable. Still, I tried to be positive in that they wouldn’t raise the rates too much as I was told they were planning to do and more importantly, that they wouldn’t let it become what Crossroads is. 
In February 2020 I called the Green Gable to reserve a room. The owner answered the phone asked the usual questions of how many nights, beds and people. I felt from the way he reacted to my answers that something wasn’t quite right. But never the less he confirmed a room for my husband and me. The next day, only about an hour from the motel, I called to ask what time we could check in, letting the woman know we would be arriving earlier than expected. It was then that the owner told me I wouldn’t be given a room at the Green Gable after all! That they were happy to put me up at the Crossroads. I expressed my unbelief that they were not giving me a room at the Green Gable when they had just confirmed the night before, and that I would not be willing to stay at the Crossroads considering their repetition. The woman insured me (the owner’s wife) that Crossroads has been completely remolded. I didn’t trust her after what they had already pulled what they did on us. She told me she would check on things and give me a call back. A while later she called and confirmed that we wouldn’t be able to stay at the Green Gable, but they were happy to put us up at the Crossroads.  She did her best to try and convince me that the place we remolded and I would be happy very with it. She even offered me a special rate because of their “mistake” at 79.00. I told her I would have to talk to my husband and get back to her. 
We decided we would stop at the Crossroads unannounced and check it out ourselves. One of the doors to a room was opened, and decided to peek in. Not long after the male owner came to speak to me. He told me how they were the new owners, that they purchased the place sight unseen. That they were in the process of remolding. He confirmed that just two months ago the place was awful, decades out of date, and infested with roaches and bedbugs. Now mind you the husband and wife had no idea that I had spoken to the other, or that I was the person that had talked to them on the phone the night before and not long ago that day. I asked the man, how much is this room? He told me 60.00. 
We left the Crossroads and went by the Green Gable. There were only 3 vehicles in the parking lot. Granted it was early, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt.  Later that night we stopped at the Green Gable to see if they had a room since there was still only three vehicles in the parking lot. I saw the woman I spoke to on the phone in the office and then from around the corner came her husband, the man I spoke to at the Crossroads, earlier. I said I noticed they only have three vehicles and thought perhaps they have a room available. The man could not look me in the eyes, and consulted his wife several times, even reverting to their preferred language so I would not be able to understand. At this point she was still unaware that I was the person that they had given me a room and then took it away, or the discrepancy of pricing they gave me at the Crossroads. 
I will NEVER go back to the Green Gable or Crossroads. Here is why:
•	They lied to me, confirming I had a room at the Green Gable and then taking it away without notifying me. A classic bait and switch to gain customers at the Crossroads motel that has such a horrible repetition. 
•	The woman said they were giving me a deal at Crossroads for 79.00 because they messed up, but the husband later said the room was 60.00, not knowing the situation between his wife and me with her offering it for 79.00 at a “bargain price.”
•	They told me the Green Gable was filled (Though they didn’t bother to notify me), when it clearly was not. We checked several times throughout the night and the next morning. The same three, and later one more vehicles were there. It was obvious they had vacant rooms. There was no vacancy sign on the office door at any point. 
•	They have, and most likely will continue to raise the rates.
•	If history is proof, they will continue to let the Green Gable go down in quality and cleanliness, and possibly bug infested. 
•	They can NOT be trusted. I can’t feel safe with people that are willing to trick, be deceitful and have no morals.

Green Gable now owned by Crossroads

Was in town for a funeral. Called and made reservation without seeing. There was no answer at the other motel in town. We assumed the other was full. After paying (receipt states on bottom, No refunds! ) we hoped the room looked better than the outside. Not! We had gotten 2 rooms, both horrible! Dirty, smelled very bad, stains in carpet, and one room the tv would not shut off and the lamp had spliced wires with duck tape around them. After seeing that I looked for a smoke detector and was unable to find one. We went to the other motel and stayed there!

Better off sleeping in you car!

Was in town for a class reunion & booked this room just a day or so before.  We got there late to check in & it looked sketchy.  When you go to the "lobby", it smells old & musty, but I'm thinking maybe it's just the lobby.  There is a sign over a phone that says you have to ring them to check in.  (They live next door) The man who came to check me in didn't have my name on the list.  I told him my name several times & he kept saying he had one for Cindy, but not my name.  Then his wife came out & they discussed this as if I wasn't standing right there.  I finally told them that I was Cindy & they gave us our room.  It was my room, I'm sure, they just wrote the name down wrong.

We went to our room & I couldn't believe I was going to have to sleep there, but I knew I would probably have had enough cocktails that I wouldn't care.  It was a small room with 2 beds, poorly placed.  Smoke permeated the room.  I don't know if there was someone next door smoking or not.  I think it just smelled that way.  The bedding looked old & I kept thinking if I looked under the bed there would be a body.  The bathroom was very small & outdated, but there was an actual toilet.  There was also a single shower, but there was one of those things you put on the floor so you don't slip, but it had these bristles on it, I guess so you could scrub your feet.  It was all yellowed.  I would never let my feet touch that nasty thing.

We dropped our bags there, even though I thought they wouldn't be there when we got back & went to our reunion.  I made sure I had plenty of cocktails so that I could sleep comfortably.  We got back to our room really late & it smelled worse than the bar we just came from.  When I woke up, well, I was just glad I woke up....I peeked out the back curtain & lo & behold the sun was out & there was a beautifully landscaped yard in view.  It gave me hope.  For a minute I thought I was going to be involved in some murder for hire plot or I was going to become a crack addict just from being there.

I would never recommend this place & I will never go back.  Anytime we are on a trip & we stay somewhere I insist that it be nice.  And if it's not as nice as I would like, I remind myself how it could be as bad as The Crossroads.  You get what you pay for.

Frightening!

Worst stay ever in a motel. Very dirty,horrible service. No air conditioning and it was 100 degrees that day. Felt like I was in a bad horror movie. Spent a total of 3 hours there could not take it anymore. Do not stay there!!
