Livingstone

Would not recommend anyone going there. Spent the night there and regretted. Theives broke into my room whilst I was asleep and stole K3000 equivalent to about $210 usd and upto now management showed me less concern.

Worst experience

Stayed there 2 nights to see the Zambian side of Victoria falls back in February, 2014. The staff (Joseph) helped my friend and I when we had issues with our travel documents and drove us around to make sure we were secure before our outbound flight.  Saved us!!

Staff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating.  Thank you Joseph!

Comfort Corner Guest House is one of the great values of Livingstone.  It is small but has wifi, complimentary breakfast, comfortable bed, hot water, and air conditioning.  Joseph is the owner/manager, and a great guy for offering advice and a sense of direction of sights to see and transportation.  Breakfast made fresh each morning and basic good taste with eggs, beans, bacon, fruit, vegetables, and juice and coffee.  It isn't a fancy place but more than adequate.  Located a 10-minute walk from downtown Livingstone, I could easily find small shopping and restaurants within an easy walk.  I rode bus from Lusaka to Livingstone and was pleasantly surprised to find the bus station not far from Comfort Corner Guest House.  There was cable TV, but reception quality was not good and I don't recall any English channels.   Rooms were cleaned daily and there was laundry service.  Happily there were not many power outages as I had experienced in Malawi.

A great place to stay

We got a room in the reception building.Couldn`t lock the door,ewerything was very run dowwn,ordered lunch(chicken and sallad) and and later dinner, waited 1.5 hour before we asked if it was ready ,got the answer that the boss was still out buying ingredients.We canceled bouth lunch and dinner and went uot to eat.The garden was only gravel and nowhere to sit down and relax.The bed was ok as well as the breakfast but we had to wait long time to get it despite I had toil the cheff 1.5 hour before that we were ready to eat.

One night was enough!

We spent there 3 nights and these are the reasons I'm not recomending this guesthouse:

1) People there are not honest. When we arrived there the driver from the guesthouse, Richard, offered to take us to the Victoria Falls and charged us 20 Us dollars for the ride saying that there, all taxis were charging the same price. The next day, we asked around and we found out that taxis there were charging 50 kechwa which is more or less 8 us dollars. We told him what we just discovered and he said he was very sorry for that and disappeard. Never seen him again.

The first day, we also asked for some informations about the Devil's Pool tour and Richard informed us that the price was 95 Us dollars for one person.
Fortunately, we didn't take any tour from them and we payed something like 20 Us dollars less each buying the tour directly from the falls' ticket office.

We never saw the owner of the guesthouse, Joseph, running his own business. Richard seemd to be the real owner.

Everybody just seems to be nice but just because they want to take advantage of it taking from you as much money as they can.

2) Power: in Livingstone, houses get elecrticity just in certain times of the day. Since this guesthouse does not have a generartor (the majority of all the other guesthouses do have one) you'll get power from 2:00 pm until 10:00 pm then it goes out from 10:00 pm until 8 am. The nex day it will be the opposite: you will get power during the night from 10:00 pm and it will go out in the morning from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.
That means big problem charging phones and cameras and no Wi-Fi service.

So if you decide to go there bring a torch. You will need it!!!

3) The sheets on the bed are synthetic so when the power goes out during the night you'll melt in your bed because air conditioning does not work. If you keep the window open the room will soon be full of mosquitos that won't let you sleep.
Pillows are not comfotable at all.

On the other side, when you get power during the night, both the fridge and the air conditioning  are very noisy.

4) Cleanliness and order are not part of this guesthouse. The sink was full of ants, besides they have only one copy of the keys of the rooms they offer, so if you want to get your room done you have to go back at 11 or 12, give the key to the lady and get your room done.
Mold in the bathroom.

5) We did not get hot water the first day because they forgot to turn the heater on so we had to take a cold shower.

6) Breakfast is very poor. They just offer eggs, oranges, some bread and hot tea. We asked for some bananas and bacon but they said it was not possibile. Bananas are for sale across the street for very little money. Besides, the second day no one came to make us breakfast.

7) We didn't feel safe living our staff like camera, passports, credit cards and money in the room. So everytime we went out we were took everything with us.

8) Positon is ok but the place is nothing special.

I've travelled a lot but this is the first time I have to make such a negative rewiew. Something like that has never happened to me before.

We were the only guests and probably there's a reason why.

These people should really change job. Not good for tourists.



Bad experience

This is a good place to stay near Victoria Falls and very close to the Livingstone Airport.  Rooms are a bit small, but that's all we really need because we are back packers and do not need a fancy place to stay like the Royal Livingstone Hotel where people shell out $400 a night to stay at.  I believe this is the cheapest play to stay in Livingstone.  I had found it via hotels.com.  The Comfort Corner has friendly staff and are welcoming, and communicate messages well if companies are picking you up the following day, etc.  They could have been a little faster cooking the food when we needed, but the food was very delicious! Plus I think the kitchen was small and only limited food could be cooked at once.  But it was kind of frustrating having to rush through breakfast we told them we needed at 6:30am and did not get until 7:10am and had a tour picking us up at 7:15am.  Dinner on the first night here that took over 2 hours to cook for 2 people was kind of frustrating as well, especially since my girlfriend needs to eat when she is hungry because if she does not, her blood sugar drops quickly.  I understand that "this is Africa" which is something we heard at several points on our trip, but the line has to be drawn somewhere...this excuse cannot be used for everything!  There were also some bugs in the room were not too thrilled about seeing such as cock roaches and beetles....but other than these things, it is a nice and simple place to stay. This place consists of just 8 or 9 rooms, so it is not very big at all.  The cooks were all very nice as well as the head guy who was very friendly with us as we checked out on the final day.
