Excellent location/position with very clean and comfortable rooms, try and get one above ground floor. Food in the hotel was excellent, extremely well cooked. Views from your bedroom are fabulous. Staff are lovely, highly recommend, possibly nicest hotel on our trip so far.

Great place to stay

On our arrival to Lalibella we were pleasently surprised by the hotel we had booked. Nice style, spacious rooms with balcony over the cliff, and certainly stunning views!!! Personnel was extremely friendly and helpful in the reception, however our greatest discovery was the restaurant. The chef of the kitchen was a real talent and prepared by far the best Kitfo we have ever tasted (and we have been tasting very many Kitfos in Ethiopia during a months stay). The same chef prepared fantastic breakfasts each morning to start our day happily  I forgot his name but I will never forget his preparations. If we ever visit Lalibela again, we know where to stay and eat. Thanks for the unforgettable stay!

A very good hotel with excellent restaurant.

We stayed at the Cliff Edge Hotel during the busy orthodox Christmas pilgrimage. Food and beverage staff were overrun but obliging.

The hotel is quite basic by western standards but has a magnificent view. We were puzzled, however, that the hotel common areas are oriented away from the view and instead overlook the carpark.

By far the most disappointing aspect of our visit was the disappearance of nearly US$400 while we slept in our room. 

We are regular travellers and have developed systems to count and safeguard our possessions, and in fact had recounted our cash that evening, but stupidly did so in front of staff. 

When we found the cash missing the next morning, the manager gaslighted us, dismissed the possibility of a staff member entering with spare keys, and fobbed us off with a vague offer to call a police officer. 

Only when we insisted on calling our own officer were we given money equivalent to our loss on the understanding we would drop our complaint.

Small (only 18 rooms), basic but comfortable hotel with a warm welcome and an amazing view from the room balcony.  Staff are all very cheerful and couldn't be more helpful. Good strength free WIFI. Limited buffet breakfast but sufficient.

Awesome view and great location

We did the standard NW Ethiopia circuit--Addis, Bahir Dar, Gondar, Axum, Mekele, and Lalibela and this was the best hotel we stayed at.  Clean, artistic looking, great view, and a wonderful staff.  Breakfast isn't a buffet and the menu is a limited, but the food is made to order and it's good.

Best hotel we stayed at In Ethiopia

Gorgeous view and location. Hot water was a little sketchy so i’d Be sure to ask next time for assistance. Staff were so thoughtful.

The Cliff Edge Hotel is an excellent choice when visiting Lalibela.  It's a beautiful hotel and all the rooms have balconies with outstanding views.  The staff is EXCEPTIONALLY friendly. It's also very clean - great all around!

Terrific place to stay!

I enjoyed my short stay at this cozy, friendly hotel. First, in terms of the altitude I don't think you could get any higher that this hotel and the sights in the valley were unbelievable. The food was absolutely delicious and the people were very friendly and extremely helpful. I came to see the churches there in Lalibela and I was amazed! Of course I hired "the best tour guide in Lalibela."
I have always wanted to visit the rock hewn churches of Lalibela, Ethiopia and I was able to do just that this summer. I was very fortunate to have the best tour guide in Lalibela named Henok Teferi Tena and he was phenomenal! This young man was very knowledgeable on the history of all eleven churches, their architectural design, the religious procedures and doctrines, King Lalibela and the history of Christianity in Ethiopia and so much more. And to top it all off he was very passionate because he is a believer ... I would recommend his services to anyone visiting this impressive historical site! I also recommend this quaint little cozy hotel!

An amazing cliff side hotel!

The room had the greatest view I've ever seen. The tour the hotel organises is not worth 40 dollars tho. If you don't have a passion for religion or underground architecture, just pay the 50 dollar entrance fee and go straight to st georges.
