We were originally booked for 3 nights, however checked out and found alternative accommodation after just one - very uncomfortable - night. List of issues included:

* Airport transfer booked and confirmed, however no one attended to collect us. 
* During the 90 minutes we waited, there were 9 attempts to call the number listed on the property's booking.com profile, no answer to any of these calls.
* With no prior research having been done on transport options, we then had to get 2 ferries, a taxi and a 'buggy' to the property. 
* Upon arrival and querying the non-collection, the concierge apologised but no explanation was given.
* Room was not a twin room as requested, did not contain any toiletries (even hand soap) and remnants of toilet paper roll only. 
* Hot water system had not been turned on, so had to wait for this to heat (lukewarm water only).
* When heated, the shower then turned itself off after turning the tap to hot, had to get one of the staff to come and repair this. 
* There is no 'restaurant' on site, only a dirty kitchen.
* Photos on booking sites of the outdoor seating areas are not from this property (again, queried this with staff, who simply shrugged and walked away). 
* Incredibly hard beds, felt like the equivalent to sleeping on the floor.
* There are no shops, BBQ or hairdresser on site as advertised, these are available on the island but not in the immediate vicinity of the property. 
* The "beach" areas in the surrounds are all construction sites. 
* Unadvertised pets living in the guesthouse. 

All in all a horrid experience. 

Avoid at all costs

I had to spend a night in Male, as my safari boat was leaving the next day...I had booked this hotel om booking.com. Very good price for a nice, clean room, with airco and warm shower. Very friendly lady of the house, gave me good information about the nearest dive shop and a good restaurant...The small beach nearby the dive shop is not meant to swim in bikini, ha, ha. Locals come there and it is actually very nice and peaceful. They culd only explain better how to arrive there from the airport- their English was not too good. But I would go there again, service is very good.

Nice, clean, friendly, local vibe

I stayed there for one night and found the staff extremely helpful,cooperative and polite. Room was very clean and comfortable.Breakfast was served at a time of our choosing and was delicious. I would definitely stay there again on my next visit.highly recommended to fellow travelers on a budget. 

Nice place 

I stayed here for a night before moving to a different island. The hotel is pretty small but the staff is incredibly friendly. They picked me up from the airport and showed me around the island. They also offer traditional Maldivian cuisine. If you're looking for a great place to stay for a night or two before you move on to another island, this is the ideal place for you!

A Nice Little Hotel

This hotel is perfect for travelers who wants to discover the real Maldives. City King Hotel staff will be very happy to welcome you and I am very grateful for their help. Vilingilly Island is very beautiful, quiet and clean but still close to Male. This is the perfect hotel to spend one or 2 nights when arriving in Male from the airport, or before taking your plane.
