We stayed just for 1 night. Arrived at night, we're welcomed with warm & cozy ambience. We got 2 pool-side rooms (out of 8 rooms).
We were greeted by the keeper, the owner and a french bulldog.. yes its an animal friendly hotel.
The hotel is located at the east side of the street, it got no sea-view, but across the hotel are forest area, with lots of birds and insects, so you get the calming nature noises..

We stayed here for two nights. The owner and his family were welcoming and friendly.  This little boutique hotel was very good value for money, good sized clean basic rooms with comfy beds. Tepid showers, but that was fine as it can get hot in Carita.   Rooms overlook a nice clean swimming pool and pond area with a forested backdrop.  Carita beach just a short hop over the road.  Breakfast was included in the very reasonable room rate and it was really good, best omelettes we had in all of Java, loaded with veges and perfectly spiced, the  homemade banana pancakes were to die for, yum yum.  Dinner offerings were also very tasty and very reasonably priced.  They have a really good cook. An elevated open air pavilion serves as both lounging and dining area and was interestingly decorated in a rustic style with fabulous handmade furniture made from whole tree slabs and giant leaf motifs moulded into the polished concrete floor. WIFI was really strong and consistent signal both indoors and out.  There are some really shabby and overpriced options in Carita, we booked a place that intitially looked okay on the Internet, but was such a shocker (dirty, shabby, with almost zero ablution and shower facilities) that when we arrived we refused to stay there and found ourselves in a real bind, as it was getting late.   Luckily our guide for Krakatoa, recommended Cinde Wulung, and we ended up paying considerably less than the first place and getting a much nicer place to stay before taking our trip to Krakatoa.

This was a backup option on our trip to Krakatoa.  It turned out to be a very pleasant experience all the extras.  it should be first choice for you.  Good restaurant with free breakfast.  They don't have beer on site, but they will walk around the corner to buy you large Bintangs for 40k.  A great deal.,

I stayed here for 2 nights in December 2017 for my Krakatau tour. I booked a standard room with breakfast and it was promptly confirmed by the owner. The day before my arrival though, Rimba called me to say that they are fully-booked and they only have the traditional house available. Bummer isn’t it so I have no choice but to take that 1-room house as I had no time to book with another hotel. While the house was pretty and RP100k cheaper than the standard room, it was very rustic: no aircon just a fan (which was not enough for the humidity in Carita), a bed with mozzie nets, the toilet was in the ground floor, not the cleanest and had resident spiders and other bugs in it (the backyard of the B&B is a forest anyway so quite understandable). To access the bedroom, you’ll have to go through a narrow staircase so it’s not PWD-friendly. I stayed one night only in the traditional house and moved to the standard room for another night once it was available. The standard room was much better since it was airconditioned and the toilet was cleaner. It is also directly across the swimming pool so you can just jump in and cool off from the heat in Carita. Food was ok and the wifi works. The mom and dad who run the place are very nice and friendly although their English is quite limited. The staff are also helpful and courteous. It's a convenient 2-minute drive to the marina where I boarded the speedboat for my Krakatau tour. If you have some downtime, I suggest crossing the road and you'll get to the beach where you can just chill.

It took some time to get to due to its location, but we were lucky since we came on Christmas, so traffic could've been worse. We were travelling in a big group, hence we took 5 rooms. The first night we took all the 4 rooms on the first floor + the separated guest house. Second night on, we took 4 rooms on the first floor + 1 additional room on the 2nd floor (vs. the guest house). 

Room was descent. Clean, AC worked really well, bathroom was clean. The only drawback was there is no hot water, which since we are in a cold area, it wasn't as bad as it could've been. I was surprised they gave extra pillows (which I just realised is quite a rarity in Indonesia's hotel) and made the sleep more comfortable.

The pool was fantastic (as you can see in the pictures). It was just the right size for a family travelling with 2 teens and 3 children. It was big enough for them to swim around, but not too big that monitoring them became a chore. We ended up spending a lot of time in the pool instead of going to the beach.

There was an open dining area with refrigerator, so we could gather there for meals. The only drawback was mosquitoes. Considering the area behind the hotel are still woods, it was a given. 

In terms of price, since we stayed over the Christmas time, it was higher than usual. On regular days, it would have been an excellent deal. But because of high season, I'll put it down as good to very good deal.

If you are looking for a place to just relax by the pool, read a book, do nothing (there is no TV in the room), slightly disconnected from the world (except for the occasional road noise), this could be an option.

Oh by the way, the beach is just across the road, about 200 meters walk. But unfortunately Carita beach is a bit dirty and during our stay, the waves were strong enough to warrant the officials not to let us swim too far.

Convenient location for Krakatau tour

Good for relaxing family time

We were meant to stay here for one night before and one night after our Krakatau tour. However, after the first night we changed to another place. 
Cindewulung has the potential to be lovely - beautiful garden setting, lovely pool right by the rooms, beautiful traditional bale-style restaurant area, spacious rooms, but it is poor value for money and the staff were disinterested. The rooms are also lacklustre. 
We were probably there in off-season, so the pool was empty and the restaurant was closed. Yet we were not charged a discounted rate for the lack of amenities. I'm fine with places not offering all the facilities in off-season, but then you must charge a lower price.
We were not told about the restaurant being closed on arrival, but when we enquired later we were rudely told "Closed!" Not even an apology. Staff really didn't care about us. We had to walk in the rain down the road a few hundred metres to find somewhere to eat. 
There was no wifi available in the room. It was there in theory, but it was practically nonexistent. The only lighting in the room is a dim standing lamp in the corner. There is no hot water (shocking, at the price they charge). The running water in our room didn't work at first. It was only fixed properly after we twice brought it to the staff's attention. 
The room is sparsely furnished - only the bed, the lamp, and one bedside table for a double bed. No chair, no reading lamps, no second bedside table
The breakfast area was beautiful, but full of the staff's personal laundry hanging out to dry, and children playing on the furniture, while a tv blared annoying youtube videos in the background. 
For the same price per night, rather stay at Mutiara Carita - yes, it's a bit 'resorty' in a cheesy way, but the pools are full, the restaurant is open, the staff are super friendly, the rooms are lovely, and - most importantly - there is hot water!!!!!!!

Poor value compared to other places in Carita

I understand that this place might not have any visitor since the tsunami but maaaan....

The first time I came here was over a year ago. It was perfect. Comfortable room, and VERY NICE FOOD. DELICIOUS. BEST THING IN THERE. I ate at the cafe conjoined with their kitchen. The best food that I've ever had in my life.
I came there again recently, looking forward to eating the food again. However, the cafe has closed. I thought, okay, maybe it's my fault for not doing a recent research. Fine. Never mind

HOWEVER, when I was trying to sleep that night, guess what? NIGHTMARE!
My body was itchy, I thought it was mosquito. But the bumps looked significantly different. Then I got up the bed, I found a GIANT BED BUG. Fine, I'll kill it then I went shower.

Then it kept going. I kept getting itchy and itchy. I was so confused I thought I had an allergy. BUT BOY WAS I WRONG. "THEY" WERE THERE. LOTS OF THEM. SO SMALL YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE THEM FROM AFAR. BUT MANY. MUCH. I STILL GET GOOSEBUMPS WRITING THIS.

Just a small suggestion. If you can't afford to keep the place decent, then close them. But I can guarantee you that I'm not coming back.
