Château de la Roche Martel

We had a marvelous stay in this enchanting chateau. Dominique greeted us upon arrival and showed us to a stunning room in the heart of the chateau. It was like staying in the bedroom of the many chateaus we had visited in the Loire Valley. The room was large with a beautiful 4 poster canopied bed, huge stone fireplace, extra single bed, lovely antique furniture and a charming collection of head coverings. The bathroom had a walk in shower, bath tub, beautiful porcelain sink and toilet. There was even a small room with a kitchen sink and kettle for making coffee or tea. After seeing our room Dominique took us on a guided tour of the chateau. We walked around the grounds and he told us the history of the castle and the surrounding area. Dominique's passion for history readily comes through in his intriguing stories. We had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious home cooked dinner with Dominique and Alice. Alice had picked out local ingredients from the market and prepared a wonderful traditional French meal. The food was incredible and the wine was perfect. The best part of the evening was the wonderful conversation afterwards in front of the fireplace. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely return for another visit with Dominique and Alice.
