Château de Cop-Choux

We had a long chat with Pierre who is one of the group of friends who took over the Chateau 6 months ago. There is a modern event hall hidden away 50 metres from the chateau and I think this is key to their plans, but fascinatingly he is actually a graphic artist and some of his work is in the breakfast/ dining room, showing where the place is headed. At the moment it is a lovely “shabby chic” location, away from it all, but close enough to visit local attractions if that is your thing. It has remarkable facilities including excellent wi-fi, which was quite a shock as it’s a difficult thing to do in an old building like this one. We stayed for two nights including Wednesday - which is the chef’s night off, so dinner is unavailable. Supper was a pleasant 3 course meal [no choices] for 39 Euros and breakfast 12 Euros “sweet breakfast” - so without ham/ cheese/ eggs, but all of it well done with high quality ingredients. Our bedroom was very nice - in fact huge - with a chaise longe and a deep bath. The decorations & paintwork need updating, but that’s clearly the intention of Pierre & his friends. A very comfortable and very large bed - so we slept well. The Chateau has central heating so I don’t think there will be problems staying warm later in the year. The staff are very friendly & helpful, but you should remember this is a B&B not a hotel so there is no “service”. So overall if you want a friendly quiet & sylish place to stay it’s a good option.
