Simply but perfectly furnished rooms in an ancient family owned house in the Castro, which adjoins the Chora. Very romantic atmosphere, perched on top of the cliffs, with a view of the sea and sky. Less than a minute's walk away from the centre of the Chora and all its tavernas and bars.

its located in the heart of the traditional Kastro of Folegandros and the view was unbelievable, one breath away from the cliff ,

We had an wonderful stay in the hotel Castro in Folegandros for 3 nights. We had a beautiful and calm room with an amazing sea view. It is very well placed in the main city Chora close to all restaurants.

Lovely hosts and and incredible room. We stayed in the same room again - on the roof with a private patio and it is absolutely stunning. FYI there are a number of stairs. Hotel is right in the center of everything

For our second stay in Folegandros we decided to stay at Castro hotel...and it was an excellent choice ! Amazing sea view from the cliff, perfect location in the old castro of Folegandros, cleanliness, warm welcome from Despo and her family, make our stay unforgettable...
As we fell in love with Folegandros we will be back for sure...and to stay there again will be part of a wonderful stay that we do not want to miss...

We spend 3 nights in The Hotel Castro and couldn't have asked for more.  The couple who own it were very friendly and welcoming.  It is set in the old castle walls right on the stop of a cliff with stunning views across the sea.  The location is central and near to some beautiful restaurants and cafes, yet set on a quiet back street.  The rooms are spotlessly clean, with old fashioned traditional greek charm.  The island is charming and ideal if you prefer a quiet life, or enjoy walking - there are some fantastic walking trails. Don't go to Folegandros if you like partying and late nights. We have visited most of the Cyclades islands, but Folegandros is definitely our favourite so far!  If you go - stay at The Hotel Castro - it's amazing.  We will definitely go back.

Beautiful and extremely comfortable accommodation in a central location. The family were so kind and welcoming and more than happy to help with anything at all. They gave us great recommendations and where to go and what to see. When I return to Greece I will be making sure I head back to this beautiful island so I can stay with this lovely family again. Thank you for all you did and making our trip to folegandros so wonderful.

We had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Castro. Our room had a balcony over the cliff and was perfect to enjoy drinks while the sun was setting.

The Castro is an utterly charming hotel in the center of Chrora village.  It is only minutes from the cluster of restaurants and shops, but it is on a very quiet street. The Castro has a very nice patio on the top with views of the sea and hilltop church.  The hotel occupies a building that was built 500 years ago, and the decor is one of simple elegance.  Despo, who owns and runs the hotel, was helpful, gracious and welcoming.  An advantage of the lower rooms is that they are naturally cooled by their thick stone walls.

Amazing view and service 

The hosts were lovely and very friendly. Our room was pretty basic - exactly as it looks like in photos, but clean and fine for the purposes we wanted it. They cleaned the room and changed our towels daily. We had a small balcony which had an amazing view and this made our mornings special. It's great to wake up and see the blue colours. Other than that, the location of the hotel is at the heart of Chora in Folegandros and that's why the view is also great.

For light sleepers like me, if the weather is super windy, one of the negatives (not the owners fault) is that the wind is very loud in that specific location our room was. For some nights I had difficulty to sleep due to that. The Wi-Fi was also not working properly, which sometimes was annoying as the signal was not particularly good at the area. 

Overall we had a fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend the hotel to others and go back myself!

Amazing view, location - value for money

Little gem !

very basic room, quite adequate. WE had roof top room with it's own terrace and wonderful view. In the old part of town and perfect for strolling through the Chora. This is our third visit to Folegandros and i hesitate to post a review as it is so tranquil and private. Perfect if you are not looking for nightlife or lots of activities.

Charming place to stay in Folegandros

The hosts were very friendly, the room was clean and the facilities were adequate. The balcony of the room was a kind of adventure. Of course it was very stable, but the wind blew like a storm all the time. The view was so great, but not for people who were afraid of heights.  Nevertheless it pulled us out again and again.

All, what you need

Where to start! You enter the Castro and are immediately  transported to another time. It is truly authentic  with its thick white walls, crumbling structures and tree beams. Then you step in to Hotel Castro and meet Despo, greeting you with the warmest smile, making you feel welcomed like a family member. the hotel in fact was her families home and was turned into the first hotel on Folegandros!! We had reserved room R1, but due to the Medicane storm, Despo offered us room #15, with a balcony overlooking the cliffside and expansive view. the room is simple and the bathroom small, but so what!, the view is breathtaking and the hotel drips with charm. We were able to use the roof terrace a lot and must say that the view rivals Santorini's!!  So if you are the type of traveler that likes to immerse oneself in culture, this is the place for you!!
