We say strange, because this is a very unexpected type of accommodation that we would have never chosen, however were sent her by Tourism Luzern. It seemed that everything in their system (within budget) was showing as booked, so after finding our way in the dark off the very beaten path, we eventually found ourselves here. Check in was self service although there was a night concierge to assist. This is a sort of convention & events type place where they also have accommodations and a Mercato Café to enjoy a solid breakfast, which was included. There were virtually less than 5 people we spotted in attendance during our stay, so it was a bit of a deserted place. Our accommodation was a dorm room, frankly, styled as if it were a train car room, aka, sterile. Efficient, clean and streamlined. We stayed in two single beds, each with a desk, closet and ensuite (tiny)bathroom. This was fine for a one nighter and completely opposite of what we were hoping to find in a countryside albergo, but hey, it worked in a pinch. It wasn’t the best priced accommodation, as our hotel in Basel was very boutique and priced much lower. This is traveling by the seat of your pants and being ok with what presents itself without proper research in advance. Sometimes you do great and sometimes it’s a bit strange. Having said this, the service was attentive upon check out and she even helped us book our hotel in Basel, (a winner!) The surrounding landscape made this special and the locals helped us find our way up the dark hill at night. Like I said, it’s off the beaten path. Not sure that I would stay here again, but it was an option in a time of need and it did the trick.
