Camlik Genesis Hotel

We stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of our tour of Turkey, it's easy to find between Ikizdere and Sivrikaya. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery and makes a great a base if, like us, you want to explore the great outdoors (we were lucky enough to see the Caucasian Black Grouse). We found a number of unmarked walks from the hotel and the beautiful Ovit Dagi pass is about a 12 kilometre drive away. We have to confess that the hotel's exterior is not what we'd expect in a forest setting (bright yellow and green). However, we stayed in one of the simple wooden bungalows which are in the hotel grounds. Our bungalow consisted of a double and single bed with a bathroom (with wi-fi which was generally available). What made our stay at Hotel Genesis so memorable was the service we received from Sukru who was determined to make sure that we enjoyed our stay - this ranged from obtaining a heater for our room, to providing information on walks, to serving our food (and sharing his translation app with us when needed). This may be a three star hotel, but Sukru provided us with five star service. There was a limited choice of food available for dinner but the two meals we had (trout and chicken) were delicious. Breakfast was also very good. In our opinion this is a difficult hotel to rate, but it's a great base if you want to search for the Grouse and perhaps a good example of not judging a book by its cover.
