Cabana Coral Reef

This is a good place to visit.we had sea foods.sea is very clean and neat.water is a cristal clear.that place have a lot of corals.we do snorkeling and kayaking that is a wonderful experiance in my visit.mr shanmugam and team doing a well job and take care of care

Our stay at Cabana Coral reef was memorable and refreshing. The resort was very inviting with palm trees, beach sand and cabanas all around. With the beach only at a stone's throw from the resort, it was impossible for us to miss the beautiful sea line from our cabana and the fresh sea breeze it brought it. As a bonus, our cabana was fully air conditioned. We never felt out of place as the resort merged well with the local village theme. The fish gravy and prawn masala prepared by the fisher-women tickled our taste buds. Although we didn't venture into the sea for kayaking and snorkelling, we felt it makes the experience more fulfilling for everyone who visits. Who would have thought you could sight coral reef in a remote sea village in South India? We'd love to visit again soon.

This place is a huge surprise when you take a turn from Mandapam railway station,you see the blue water just as you drive and you are driving along the ocean on your left. The road is bit not well maintained,but it is just few feet away from the resort. The rooms as based on container concept,our car was parked next to our room/container room No 9. This was a sea facing container room,with bunker bed and a double bed,with a toilet. The housekeeping is pretty clean,you cannot avoid the sand on you,as the proximity to sea is lovely.Sheets/towels/soaps are provided. The containers have AC fitting ,but if the windows are open,the cool breeze make you sway to good sleep. Breakfast,lunch,dinner package is pretty decent,do not  expect north Indian food here;The local cuisine is well prepared and served with lots of care by Mr Shanmugan and his team. Since am a veg, no reviews on non very food!!! 24hrs electricity is another plus point.
These container rooms do not  have an overhead  storage tank for hot water,so the staff carries hot water for bath for all the inmates. May be this point is masked by all the other good stuff here. Nice sit out area in front of rooms for family time. The Amazing point to note is that you have to walk less than 2-3mins and the calm waters of Bay of Bengal are there to soothe you. We enjoyed the stay here for 2days,and were speculating to stay on if rooms were available,but the place was fully packed as it was year end. Visit once and you may return again for the good times.

Locally known as the 'Container Resort, unique concept of converting containers into cozy cabins,good location right on the beach, don't expect 5 star comforts, its well maintained though, kids enjoyed Kayaking, snorkeling was a dampener due to weather, well cooked homely & tasty food, seafood options on both the days were very good. special shout out to Shanmugham and his staff for the excellent service provided.

The property situated just on the beach, you can feel the proper village feeling, the room was neat and clean and air conditioned.the main usp is their snorkeling service which was at its best.a value deal for your money.

If you like sun , corals , kayaking , responsible snorkeling , swimming in the sea without currents , well cooked homely food, gorgeous evening sunset and night sky watching then this is the place for you. 

Close to Pamban bridge at a small place called Mandapam it is very accessible to Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi. 

The staff are very responsive. Shanmugham, the head staff there is doing a good job and so is his well-knit team.

Rooms are nice and simple.

We visited this place while touring the south. An unbelievable property that is right on the beach. Breathtaking location and view from the hotel. The sea is barely 15-20 steps from any of the hotel rooms. A huge highlight is the calm water. Never seen a beach that had no waves and perfectly still. 

Hotel is difficult to find as the location mapped on Google Map is incorrect. Manoj had come to pick us up near the Mandapam Petrol pump. Its a 10 min drive from there to the hotel/beach.

Rooms are cabins made out of shipping containers that have been modified. Its a very unique concept. It had all the basic amenities, a clean bathroom with shower, a decent bed and an Air conditioner that was working.

Dont expect the best of food here, its an a small spread, but made sure our tummies were filled. Since I wasnt feeling too well in the evening, they had no hesitation in making simple home cooked khichadi, a huge relief. 

A big surprise for us was the Kayaking and Snorkelling thats part of the package. We Kayaked into the middle about 750m from the shore, put the flippers, life jacket, and snorkel mask to dive inside. The middle of the water was not deep barely 5-6 feet. We spent about an hour and a half snorkeling seeing some spectacular corals, fishes and other sea creatures. Since it was our first time we thoroughly enjoyed it.

A few tips,
- Make sure you sit on the beach in the night, it is unbelievably quiet and worth the time.
- They do not provide toiletries so make sure you carry your own stuff
- They also offer tents to sleep in, so make sure you ask if you are interested
- This is in Mandapam really so its before the Pamban bridge when you head towards Rameswaram
- If you want to visit for the coral viewing make sure you go in the summers, between March and May. Surprisingly it was not as hot as we thought it will be.

The 2 staff Manoj and Mintang were very helpful and made sure that we had a very comfortable stay. A few hiccups, like no water in the bathroom and the air conditioning not cooling were swiftly fixed.

We definitely plan to return, hopefully with a larger group to enjoy this gem.

A unique property, thats right I say on the Beach its really right on the beach. If you come out of the gate, you land on the beach. 

All rooms were made out of containers, so dont expect a big and a spacious room, but its good for a couple.

Kayaking was good and Jenson made us to do the Kayaking though we had initial inhibitions. 

Food is average but homely.

About 16 men friends from our church went for a retreat. It's a beautiful place right on the beach at mandabam...very nice people and Nr  jenson is very friendly and extended a 5star hospitality. Food is awesome, prawns, squid , variety fish fries and gravy too good. They offer free kayaking and we enjoyed it. Looking forward to visit again

We came to stay with a 25 person crew. The food and shelter was fantastic. But the room A / C and fan are not working properly. It would be nice to have a little adjustment. And staffs is very help full. Internet connection is very poor. I recommended airtel network.

Awesome location !

Stunningly beautiful !

The food is AMAZING!  Much better than any of the fancy hotels we've been in on this trip. 14 dishes on offer for dinner this evening & they made an extra one for my son just so that he wouldn't have to deal with any spices (he's crazily picky about that). The people are super friendly. The location is good. The accommodation is pretty basic, but clean. 
I recommend it.

Awesome adventurous holiday

Staff is very helpful. It is a unique experience though. Everyone may not enjoy it but the experience they provide is hard to find anywhere else. A beach holiday should be what they provide. It is way better than being in a multi star restaurant where it is an expedition to feel the sea. Here the full stay was perfect.
Sure the food may not be of everyone's taste but then they try to give a truly authentic experience of a fishing village stay. People would go to Italy, Portugal, Spain to experience something similar. Here it's right in the country and needs to be promoted strongly.
Those who relish sea food would enjoy this tremendously.
Those who are pure vegetarian, or cannot stand smell of fish, I would still recommend them to visit. It is a small adjustment with that for the full experience one gets thanks to the location, activities and the very hard working staff who want to make you very comfortable.
