Byland Abbey Inn

Didn’t stay here but stopped  for coffee and cake,  (yummy) ,before visiting The Abbey.  Very cosy and the staff were great.  Left my 99 year old dad in a comfy chair whilst the rest of us explored.  Staff kindly kept an eye on him .   Thank you !

Have just had the pleasure of enjoying an afternoon tea at this lovely pub and tearoom next door to the Abbey. 
The balance of savory and sweet items was spot on.
Freshly prepared sandwiches and homemade scones were delicious. 
We weren't able to finish it all and the remaining items were carefully wrapped for us to enjoy at home later.

Louise & her sons couldn't do enough to make our stay a pleasant experience. The room was just beautiful (Allan Bank) huge with a gorgeous view of the Abbey & a fabulous bathroom. We had a reservation at The Black Swan where Louise was on hand to taxi us there & back, just a quick WhatsApp message was all that was required for our return which was at about 11.30pm.
Breakfast in the morning was a delicious full English - extremely good meat in the sausages & bacon. 
The room was lovely & warm  the water for the shower/bath piping hot. 
We stay in hotels all the time & can honestly stay this was up there as one of the best! Welcoming, warm & tastefully decorated with lovely hospitality. 
Highly recommended! 

We had a lovely 2 course Sunday lunch in lovely surroundings. Seemed a little short staffed and it was very busy, but it was a good experience for us.  Dog friendly, which is a bonus and we will be back, hopefully to try the rooms.

Had another delicious meal here last night. Super value for money and really tasty dinner. Decent range of drinks and staff just lovely, chatty and warm. The team were really interested in our opinion of the food and clearly take care to plan and vary the menu. This means we’ll definitely be back again as soon as we can. Thanks again

Came across this little gem of a place on our second visit to the area. The menu was limited but wow what they served us was all perfect. The front of house lad was so helpful and friendly, the chef clearly very talented and the owner accommodating, even gave us a lift home when we struggled to get a taxi! Would highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again next year when caravan park reopens for us to come back 😀

This place is lovely. Only 3 rooms, and some posh tents in their garden, it has a lovely home feeling. The setting by the abbey is stunning- we had a room that I looked the abbey. Room was clean, plenty of amenities for our stay too. Customer service I could not fault. Really friendly staff on. Chris and Craig were particularly great. I was very aware the hours that they put in over the full weekend. They were there when I went down for breakfast and still there when we went to bed.
These lockdowns have murdered hospitality and I know there are many staffing shortages so it was wonderful to see dedicated staff at the inn and nice to see independently owned places like this have come out the other side.

The staff were nothing but helpful. We booked this hotel because we had a reservation at the The Black Swan a mile down the road. We booked the deluxe room opposite the Abbey, really big room. Morning breakfast was amazing 
5 out of 5 for room, staff, food & drink. 

We stayed over the weekend with our young family and it was wonderful! Simply perfect, the host and his team could not have done enough to keep us happy. We ate at the restaurant on the Saturday night and enjoyed a huge breakfast the next morning before playing hide and seek in the abbey with the children for hours! 

We were indeed the couple woken up by the angry man below (no need to apologise - it happens) very sad to read that he thinks it OK to report a persons dementia on a public forum with no regard for the consequence of said person reading it. 

The view of the Abbey is magical which we both enjoyed as the children finally slept from our bedroom window. I could not recommend this hotel more and definitely will be going back. Thank you!

I booked this stay as a surprise for my partner after i’d booked elsewhere and got double booked. I managed to get the biggest room of the three and it was very impressive, if a touch expensive, but it was a special occasion. 

Couldn’t fault the hosts or the room. Was very clean, plenty of space and the two brothers running the place in the absence of the manager were very friendly and helpful. 

Breakfast nice, lovely open garden space to sit and drink in the sun and exercise the dog.   Awesome views day through to night of the abbey..

Amazing Afternoon Tea

Just lovely!

We recently visited for a Sunday lunch in this very character full property. Couldn't fault the friendly bar staff, service or the food. The main dining area was quiet which was really nice as it allowed us to talk freely and not have to worry too much about our 5 yr old making a bit of noise. I personally would like maybe a few more vegetables to accompany the lunch and possibly pour your own gravy, but apart from that it was a very well rounded meal enjoyed by all.

Louise and her team were very helpful, polite and extremely accommodating.  In fact when we couldn’t get a cab she actually took us to the restaurant down the road

Breakfast was very good. Hot, Tasty and plenty to eat

Enjoyed an afternoon tea at Byland Abbey it really was one of the best we have had. Good sized sandwiches with plenty of filling. Couldn’t eat it all so they boxed it up for us to take home. Really good surroundings and very pleasant staff.
