Botlierskop Bush Villas

Seeing all animals (zebras, buffalos, hippos, rhinos) next to our Bush Villa was the highlight of our stay.

We first visited Botlierskop three years ago and have been returning regularly ever since. We have stayed in the tented lodge as well as the Bush Villas. This was our second visit to the Bush Villas and my 16 year old daughter and I stayed in a “standard” Bush villa this time round, although there was nothing standard about. It is the height of luxury with every amenity you can think of! We had a lovely, peaceful, “socially distanced” stay, watching the game from our front patio. My daughter enjoyed an incredible horse safari and the game drive is always a must. We are forever returning to this magical place - nothing beats it! 

What an unbelievable place. This is luxury at its best. Modern and comfortable. Everything provided. Lovely views. So private.
Staff wonderful. My daughter left her glasses behind. The Bushvillas team were so eager to assist and managed to courier them to our next stop.

It was an absolute treat. There’s a lovely splash pool to relax in and soak up sun and views. Staff extremely helpful and friendly.

So I won  a competition to come and stay at the Bush villas for a weekend and wow!! The Villa was very close to the water hole so we saw, Rhino. Hippo, Giraffes and more. Also the bush Villas were equipped with everything of the best, they literally catered for everything. For the self catering option this was really amazing and would recommend this to all animal lovers.

What an unbelievable experience. We will definitely be back. Wish we could have stayed longer in the Villa. What an incredible experience.

Sanity, silence, nature, luxury, extremely fantastic service, space, peace and quiet ans so much more.... Book at the bushvillas. We have  visited this macigal place for the 10th time just 2 days before South Africa s shut down for 3 weeks. We stayed in villa 4 for the 1st time and it's difficult to choose which one is the best. They are all. Beautiful in their own way.

We have stayed at Botlierskop Bush Villas previously with American guests and had a fantastic three day stay. Again we visited, this time with our children and grand children from the UK. They were totally enthralled to be so near to the water hole with the resident hippos and to be able to see a variety of animals from the comfort of the villa while having a braai. The facilities are excellent and it is a holiday to be remembered, especially for overseas visitors.

The Villa (nr 4) is on the edge of the waterhole. Around sunsets the hippos, rhinos , zebras and many other bucks gather around the waterhole. 
The accommodation is perfect, spacious and appropriately styled. House keeping daily with many activities available around the game reserve. 


Second time we have been here and this time we brought friends. Really top notch. We recommend the villas with the game viewing and a horseback safari (at least 2 hours). One of our party was unhappy about the electric fences as they had a toddler and felt unsafe. I felt a lot safer after the buffalo was centremetres from our garden.

Summary: Definitely worth a stay as the villas are breathtaking, especially if you get the SA resident rate off-peak (we stayed late August). The service offering/approach needs to improve to reflect the beauty of the lodge, and especially if Botlierskop is to to become a destination in itself - bearing in mind the location.

Pros: Villa (we stayed in the Deluxe, Villa 8) is spacious, decorated well and very comfortable. Three large, double and very comfortable bedrooms, all with own bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. The terrace area is breathtaking with a backdrop on a small watering hole and hill where you can watch the sunrise and sunset from a heated plunge pool. The game drivers are exceptionally knowledgeable (shoutout to Robert/Robbie) - we learnt many new facts despite having done many safaris in the past. The restaurant (see comment below) at the main lodge has one of the most amazing views I've seen anywhere, and the breakfast and lunch there is exceptional!

Cons: In general, the service approach felt more focused on telling you about the many restrictions e.g., a text on the morning of checkout warning of late checkout fees. We were told we cannot visit the restaurant at the main lodge despite it being near empty, which they eventually permitted us to. The 1,000 ZAR/3h pp game drive, with a strong recommendation to do multiple feels like extortion, particularly since it's a small reserve and the animals are not truly wild and easily found. With 4 hours for cleaning, would expect that housekeeping clean under furniture - there was a water bottle under the bed and quite a bit of dirt underneath the furniture.

Large and comfortable villas with below average service offering

Welcoming reception and the service was good, the quality of the shower water was not good, there was plumbing error in the water system. Game Drive Safari Was Great. The Villa 5 is the best for red wine with romantic sunset and huge fireplace. We never tried the water jacuzzi because didn’t work, they tried to fix it, but not successful end. I hope next time the jacuzzi will be fixed and me will try it.

Wonderful place Five stars.

This setting  is almost too perfect to be real. A luxurious and spacious three bedroom Villa, with its own private splash pool  right on the water's edge and outdoor braai area. It is located in a mountainous area just outside Great Brak river, halfway between George and Mossel Bay.  It has fantastic views of an abundance of animals around the water pool. It was a slightly overcast afternoon and we had at one stage in full view at the same time a large array of animals ranging from hippos, rhinos,giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, impalas and njala. The service, game drives and location is of utmost quality and fun. I will most certainly be back again and can highly recommend this to local and international visitors. This can only be experienced and cannot be described in a way to do justice to it.

GEM OF THE LUXURIOUS GAME LODGES

We loved every moment of our stay here. We had two young kids. The game drives were very informative and so helpful with our kids. Will definitely go back! 

What we loved the most is the luxury and that our kids could see animals without fear of malaria. This is a well looked after nature reserve with staff loving what they do and looking after the animals.

We stayed at Botlierskop Bush Villa 2 weeks ago. It was absolutely wonderful. The natural surroundings and wildlife basically induced relaxation. We had the privilege of spotting Giraffe, Zebra, Springbok, Impala and Rhino. The Villa was beautiful with all the modern amenities and nothing lacking. Thank you to the friendly Bush Villa team. What a memorable experience. We will be back soon.
