The hotel room was spacious but there was no fan or A/C in the room. No water bottle was provided in the room and when asked for got a 500ml water bottle the waiter wanted 40 birr payment in cash immediately.
Internet speed was very very slow at just 0.24 Mbps
There is very little water pressure in the shower and also in the taps.
There is no slab near the washbasin to keep the toiletries.
No buffet breakfast.
I would recommend this hotel only if you have some work in that area and that too for a maximum 1 or 2 nights.

Could have been much better

The bathroom was not cleaned from the previous guest.  It  freaked me out.  The carpet was not vacuumed.   Dogs barked all night making it impossible to sleep.  Airplanes travelled overhead making loud noises.   There was food, but it was not very good.  It was reheated.   The internet was so slow it wasn't worth the effort and stopped working altogether on the second night.  The price was outrageous given the condition of things.
The staff were very good, friendly, attentive which is why they got any stars at all.

I Would Never Recommend Anyone To Stay Here & if it’s for a layover you better tell Ethiopian Airline to change you to a different Hotel or you will be miserable just like I was. First thing when I got here went straight to my room. And these are the problems about Beacon Hotel. 

1. MOSQUITOES everywhere. Get ready to fight with them, they are pretty fast and big. When I called and inform about them all he had to say was ohh. Okay and then told me Goodnight 

2. I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A HOTEL THAT DOESNT HAVE A/C, Even motels have A/C. It’s so hot and stuffy. I called reception and they told me to open the windows mind you that would let more mosquitoes in the room plus the windows don’t have the net to prevent any bugs. 

3. The tables and TV stand and head beds are dusty the room itself just smelt dusty. So dusty I was able to write

4. Dinner was cold. It’s like they didn’t inform them that they will be having guests over, at least communicate 

5. The bathroom had a weird smell to it and just didn’t seem clean

6. WiFi is poor as in slow

7. The curtains itself are dusty. Instead of white they looked more of gray/brown

8. Room is so stuffy and hot that I wasn’t even able to breathe plus with all the dirty. To the point where I had to open my windows. And force myself to get inside the covers so that I don’t get bitten by mosquitoes 

9. You can hear cars passing by and people making noises. And my view as you can see all that. 

10. Let’s not even go there. Just know that You will be disappointed 

Did I enjoy my stay NOPE. Never again. Don’t know why Ethiopian Airlines would put guests in such a hotel.

You will regret

Ethiopian Airlines provided a voucher to this 3 star hotel as part of a 17 hour layover in Addis Ababa.  After being picked up by a courteous chauffeur who happily taught me useful phrases in Amharic, I arrived at hotel.  A smiling concierge welcomed me, informed that 3 meals would be served in the adjacent dining room, and provided a key to my sparkling clean room.  I enjoyed sipping hot coffee at a tasty breakfast with excellent service while observing the scurrying pedestrian traffic.  After a warm shower, comfortable nap, and vivid adventure through a nearby market, I checked out of the Beacon Hotel with gratitude for their hospitality and longing to return.

Pleasant stay on layover with Ethiopian Airlines

You shouldn't complain about free things but I'll make an exception.  This was our second time availing ourselves of Ethiopian Airlines generous offer for a free hotel room if you have a long layover.  The first time the hotel was a nice, business quality place.  Beacon is not that -- the worst food and the worst night's sleep I've had in ages.  The shuttle took forever to get to the airport, and then proceeded to wait until it was full to depart.  The dinner buffet was bad bad bad -- cold gravies and inedible rice, just vile.  The room was dingy and there was no hot water.  The walls were paper-thin, so I could hear everything in the hallway and outside.  No climate control, so it was alternately too warm or too cold.  Breakfast was even worse than dinner, with separated yogurt (!!), a few bananas, and stale rolls.  When leaving for the airport, despite the fact we were prompt for the morning shuttle, the driver tried to cram every other passenger (late or not) in, making for an incredibly uncomfortable ride.

It seems the quality of hotels that participate in the Ethiopian free hotel night deal varies incredibly.  If you get the Beacon on your voucher, good luck.

Free.. but awful.

This hotel is not the kind I would ever choose but it's a free hotel room provided on Ethiopian Airlines for long layovers (over 8h). The hotel is relatively close to the airport but even by night, you can see it's not the best or safest location. The hotel itself appears clean, relatively new, reception ok, elevator silent and relatively fast.
When you get to the room, first impression is rather good with the size, clean sheets, comfy bed, TV with BBC news at least... But the bathroom was infested with small roaches, so really not the best cleanliness even though the bathroom itself is not dirty. Also there is no A/C.  The windows are nice but view on something of a car or building material graveyard.
Only 1 towel, ok for solo but not good for couples, no bath mat but there were toiletries available.
Now the food... the most terrible food I've ever had!!! Will not even bother for breakfast.
It's a pity the above spoilt the whole experience, but it's a nice treat from Ethiopian Airlines to offer a free hotel night and free transit visa.
Hope they have better hotels though. Will definitely not rate this a 3 star but 2 stars maximum.
Will not recommend one bit if staying in the city unless you are an adventurer and don't mind the roaches.

Nice, clean in appearance but on closer look...

The rooms are spacious and modern, good shower (hot water 24/7). Rather clean.
Very poor breakfast, poor and slow WiFi. Not the most efficient service, but no different than Ethiopian standards. A bit far from anywhere in the city.

Not good nor bed.

Just checked out at beacon hotel, ideed Helpful staff ,the room was nice and clean even though it was a transit and only one night stay but l really enjoyed it.one guy carry my bags until to the room.

As a service to clients to use the room for a 10hour connection flight the airline offer this room. With a hotel shuttle is a nice package to save money so u can rest. However the room is poorly serviced and equiped.poor breakfast and lunch.
We traveled with a 9 and 12 yo girls.
