Avon Road Guest House & Tours

This was our third stay at this lovely guest house. From our very first visit in 2017 it had a home from home feel and still does which has to be down to owners Christine and Clive who are excellent hosts. This is only 15 mins drive from Johannesburg airport which is certainly a relief after a longhaul flight. Pick up arrangements from the airport are easy. The rooms have the most comfortable beds imaginable and rooms have a fan or if really hot their is aircon, which in the cooler months will also provide heat. The bathroom has a lovely large shower and a big plus for the bathroom is the underfloor heating. Breakfasts are great and pretty much whatever you might want. For dinner there are various excellent local restaurants and all the local takeaways will deliver to the property. There is a pool and a separate bar within the garden. If staying any length of time, it is also possible for them to arrange tours. Whilst the location is close to the airport, there may be some aircraft noise depending on which runway is in use. However, for me, I didn't find it intrusive and the airport does NOT operate all night. We also stayed on 07 June on our way back to the UK. At this time the owners were away but we were just as well looked after by their son Sasha. I hope that sometime soon we get the opportunity of another visit to South Africa!
