Hôtel Gustave 

I have stayed in Paris twice before this trip. The first was right by the Louvre and the second by the Arc de Triomphe. This time I decided to stay close to the Eiffel Tower at Hotel Gustave. It was a nice hotel and a very different experience from my last two stays. When you stay close to the Arc it is a very big city experience. You are on a shopping boulevard and you could be in any big city. If you want a "feel like I am in America but not" experience that is where I would stay Staging close to the Louvre is very upscale touristy. You are surrounded by fancy buildings and close to the Opera and other famous buildings. If you want a luxury French experience (with the associated cost) then that is where I would go. But staying close to the Eiffel Tower at Hotel Gustave is more of a French apartment type of vibe. The hotel is very nice and the people are fantastic. They were helpful for the entire stay and really went out of the way to be of assistance. They all spoke perfect English and gave restaurant recommendations and directions. The hotel is small. I was room 14 if that gives you an idea of how small. The room was well equipped and comfortable. Very upscale and boutique feel. They offer breakfast but I always just walked across the street to the pastry shop and had coffee and pastry for breakfast. There are several good local French restaurants nearby and finding dinner was never an issue. The hotel is a bit far from the tourist busses. They pickup at the Eiffel tower and that is about 1 kilometer away. But I found it nice to walk through the area in the morning and did not feel like the walk was crazy long. But you do have to like to walk. So in summary it was as close to a "stay in a Paris apartment" experience as you can get without actually staying in a Paris apartment. Very local vibe and pleasant place to stay.
