Great small apartment with some cookware and close to some shops. Good tv and furniture, very nice staff.

basically i am very happy with the property.  it includes everything for stay except slippers.  however, the sofa bed does not have pillow and quilt.  If you will need to sleep at sofa bed, don't forget to ask from front desk.  The staff is very kind and helpful. He explains the traffic, weather and sight seeing place patiently.

We selected this property because it had kitchenettes, allowing us to reduce some of the high cost of food in Iceland. The hotel was a little dated but clean. Beds were very comfortable. We used the heated tile floor to help dry out some of our wet clothes when we got caught in the rain. If it got too warm in the room we just opened a window which they actually encouraged. Door locks were a little tricky but also seemed to add extra security. The hotel location is close to amenities and a good starting off point to see quite a few sights.

Convenient and clean

Affordable hotel near the golden circle. Our rooms were nice, but one had a strong chemical smell and the other had a constant stinky bathroom - this was different than the usual sulfur smell from the hot water. Something seemed wrong with the venting. The rooms had nice geothermal heated floors. It was walking distance to a few restaurants and grocery stores.

Happy stay, for me is the best hotel style i've ever experience. It's not about luxury, Im talking about real  living, It's show as hotel but you feel like home as service apartment or even better, the room is so big for stay in the room than go out. There is separate part kitchen and living room which as you can cook. Staffs are really helpful and give nice information.

The hotel was comfortable. This was my first trip to Iceland and I decided to stay at Selfoss because I thought it would be closer to the Golden Circle and other attractions in that area. The thing is, is that there are not a lot of options to get to those areas. You can either rent a car which would be your best option or you can book a tour which usually departs from Reykjavik. If you do book a tour though and you stay at this hotel that means you would have to go back to Reykjavik to do the tour which is what I had to do and it was more expensive and instead I should have rather stayed at Reykjavik. You can always take a taxi to the destinations but it would be expensive or you can rent a car from Selfoss and drive to the locations. Other than that Selfoss is a beautiful town, there is a river that is close by to the hotel and it is also amazing. The hosts were very kind and helped me with the bus schedules to head back to Reykjavik.

Really great place to stay on a budget! Comfortable visit on our day of arrival from the USA. Happy with the whole experience, and the receptionist suggested a great place to eat nearby. The thermal springs are a 10 minute walk, as is the grocery store. Might need to update the sign to read "Arctic Nature Hotel"-- it didn't say that on the building when we were there last week.

Great location and value in Selfoss.

My family of 4 stayed here 1 night after finishing driving around the Golden Circle.  We chose to stay in Selfoss instead of going back to Reykjavik since we were driving along south coast the next AM to Hofn.  Fosstun Apt Hotel is a few blocks south of the Ring Road.  The units are simple but clean motel style units with a kitchenette (stovetop, microwave, refrigerator).  The kitchenette was important to us as it was far cheaper to buy food at the Kronans grocery in town and eat in the room.  Although calling the units apartments is an overstatement, the space was adequate (had to move coffee table to open sofabed).  Room had 2 twin beds which were firm.  Soundproofing was limited so you could hear noise from adjoining units (recurring theme in Iceland).For a healthier food option, I recommend Yellow, a restaurant in the same building as Kronans at the main traffic circle.  Yellow serves Asian themed bowls - choose the protein, the starch (noodles, brown rice, or sweet potatoes), and the sauce (Satay, green curry, or tandoori).

Stopover after Golden Circle drive

I stayed while driving through on a trip around the ring road. This is a great simple hotel with a large sitting area in the room as well as a kitchenette. It was very clean. The staff was great - we forgot something in the room and came back later in the day and they returned it immediately. Highly recommended!

Great simple hotel

Perfectly positioned in town but still a quiet location in a quiet neighbourhood. So glad we booked two nights here. It was easy to do the Golden Circle from here. We bought food in the local supermarket and shops down the road and had the basics for self-catering (2 burner hob, microwave, and fridge.)The apt was comfortable, spacious, and very clean.

Home from home

It's a long drive from Gulfoss to Selfoss and we were delayed by all the fun to be had on the Golden Circle. Ten we could not make our phone cooperate so we just had to drive, arriving in Selfoss at 10:20pm, way past late check-in. The manager was still there, finishing his movie and hoping we would arrive. He'd already run our card, btw. We found our room clean, comfy, quiet and roomy. The kitchenette was wonderful. In the morning, a lovely woman checked us out and sweetly wished us "Have a safety trip!" This was not inexpensive but other than that it was perfect. Just off the main road and close to a big grocery store.
