This review is slightly delayed, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to provide an excellent review for our stay at Aparthotel Hugenschmidt family. From the moment we made the reservation until we departed, everything was exceptional. The communication with the hosts was timely, and they were extremely helpful with any questions, no matter how simple or complex. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by one of the owners and she provided an overview of the apartment and the local area. Gave us great recommendations on restaurants (Metzg-one of the best on our trip) and a local pastry shop across the street. The apartment itself was impeccably clean, and all amenities that you could imagine were available, including chargers, electric adapters, and luggage mats to name a few. Overall, an amazing stay; probably one of the nicest apartment-style hotels we have stay in world-wide. Truly a gem, in a nice neighborhood just two or so blocks away from Lake Zurich. Hope to return again some day to Zurich, and if we do, we would definitely stay here. 

One of the Best Stays of Our Trip

The host mistaken us with another customer because we "look like" that particular name of the customer. She had many clues NOT to assume, she didn't who we are when we arrived. She gave us a specific parking slot around 30 mins before but as soon as we arrived she said we parked in a wrong slot - because she thought we were the other customer. THEN, she told us we booked for 2 people only instad of 3.I did not. Only when she was checking on computer we looked from behind & found out she mistaken us w the other customer's information. Then she said, "for Eur*&ean people like us, you look like Mr (name)" Inappropriate especially in the hospitality industry. 

Host not very professional and gave us an uncomfortable stay experience

Amazing stay, impeccable hospitality - Sylvia went above and beyond to help with so many things. I stayed here for a week during a conference and highly recommend this hotel for its outstanding regard for its guests. Such a human and generous host, spotless rooms and super convenient location, easy walk to downtown and to the lake with tram right at your door. Lots of bakeries, shops and restaurants all around I would defiantly stay again and again.  Vielen Dank! Sylvia

Outstanding Host and Hotel

Very nice hotel with great location, clean rooms, and helpful owner.
The location is outside the tourist area, and you can see the life of local upper middle class here, especially many local kids. The area is clean, safe, and still convenient with public transit (especial tram no.4 leads you to train station and most tourist attractions) and groceries (if you do not want to spend money at restaurants). The bakery the hotel recommended for breakfast is excellent with reasonable price. The park nearby has a wonderful lakeview.
The room is clean, comfortable, and with good space for this price range in Zurich. There is a fridge and a microwave. USB outlets are very convenient for charging our phones and camera, as we do not need to worry about adapter difference (we are from Canada). The hotel also provides sandals. The hotel owner, a very nice lady, are very responsive in emails before our arrival, and gave us a lot of suggestions during our stay.

Excellent family-run hotel

Wonderful family run hotel! Room spotless, location quiet, communication from owner/host excellent. Sylvia so helpful to email in advance the train line directions from airport to hotel(easy 20 min ride) Walk to lake, many shops nearby including supermarket and bakery. Thank you Sylvia!

Great spot tucked in central location! 

Charming hotel and the owners Sylvia and Samantha are very accommodating and gave great recommendations about what local restaurants to eat at. And when we went to one of those restaurants and told the service staff that Sylvia and Samantha recommended it to us, we got a free appetizer =)
I could not find the air condition controls in our room, but it was late April in Zurich so the temperature was quite delightful with just opening a window; in hotter temperatures it’s something I would definitely inquired about.  
Overall an amazing place to stay in a great, walkable/bikeable part of town with plenty to do! My wife and I would certainly stay there again!

Well run establishment

We stayed at the two bedroom suite with family. Our visit was a family reunion. The apartment was very comfortable and spacious and had all we needed for our stay. We used the kitchen a lot. The rooms are very. well stocked with appliances and utensils. We could get what we needed just around the hotel: coffee shops, markets and public transportation. The hotel offers parking spots, for an extra fee, which we also used. Our host Sylvia was very welcoming and accommodating with the requests we had. Everything was very clean and working properly and we had a good feeling about staying at Familie Hugenschmidt, much better than the non-personal feeling of a large chain hotel. Moreover, the quality of the room is superior here. I strongly recommend it.

Outstanding stay with family

We stayed at Aparthotel Familie Hugenschmidt for 3 days this March and I must say it was a really wonderful experience! The location is excellent, less than 50m from the tram and has a lot of amenities right at your doorstep including a great bakery that Sylvia the owner will tell you about. The rooms were really clean, well maintained and housekeeping was very good. They even provided all the necessary stuff you might want including a microwave, kettle, fridge freezer etc.

I would definitely be staying here on my next visit to Zurich.

Fantastic place to stay in Zurich

We were very happy to stay at this friendly and cosy place. It is very clean and quiet. It feels rather like home than a hotel. The staff is friendly and helps with advice. This location is 5 min from the lake and about 25 min from the center by foot.

Nice friendly service

We sleep very well in this small hotel. It is very clean, good service and nice and helpful owner. Parking possible at the front of the hotel. No breakfast but a very good baker is 50 mtr from the hotel. To setup you breakfast table all crockery is available.
