RUN, don’t walk, away from this guesthouse and its nightmare proprietor. I should have trusted the bad reviews on Airbnb, but took a gamble on a two night booking here (made over the phone after a local contact put us in touch). Tamara seemed pleasant over the phone, and my partner confirmed our stay twice before our arrival. On the day of, our hike to the peak of Mou’aputa took longer than expected, and we were unable to find a taxi in the area after calling many drivers. I called Tamara to let her know we were running late, and to ask if she knew any possible drivers, as she had told my partner that she had one available. We grabbed dinner in 'Āfareaitu while we waited and continued calling around. 

The restaurant was able to find us a taxi, so I messaged Tamara over WhatsApp to let her know we would be there soon. As we’re about 15 minutes away, she informs us that she “will not wait” for us anymore, and tells us to get a room at the Sofitel (which starts at ~$650/night, and was fully booked). I called Tamara to try to reason through the misunderstanding, as we had not once been informed that there was a cutoff time for check-in. She was absolutely unhinged on the call, claiming we caused her undue stress (by asking about a taxi, apparently?). Imagine our stress at suddenly being without a hotel room at 7 PM in a foreign country! In desperation we called the Hirinaki Beach House next door (where we had wanted to stay, but it was fully booked), and the very kind woman who answered the phone offered to help us out. She was sadly unsurprised at our experience, and related a recent story of Tamara kicking out a guest with a multi-week reservation and keeping her $5000.

I was put in touch with another owner with an unfinished Airbnb nearby (part of Fare Koki Koki) and generously given a ride over to the property where we spent the night on mattress pads, but at least with a roof over our heads. So grateful that there are people who genuinely care about others and want to help. Tamara, on the other hand, should not be in the hospitality industry. Terrible communication, zero empathy, and a hair-trigger. Please, save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else.

Nightmare on Mo’orea

We stayed in Moorea for 5 nights and loved the place wish we had stayed rather than moving to another island. Tamara is an excellent host and helped us arrange a boat trip, nothing was too much trouble and if she had to pop out anywhere always informed us and asked if we needed anything fetching back.
We had planned to visit a few restaurants but were so relaxed we just cooked ourselves.
The taxi recommended by Tamara think his name was Tamato, was so polite and spoke excellent English, we used him a few times. He picked us up from airport and took us straight to the supermarket, didn't buy much as we did not realise  how good the facilities were, the other places we stayed only had a microwave, so ended up going back the next day, so i would advise you get enough supplies one your first trip as it is a good taxi ride away, unless you hire a car.
My husband loved the rays which came every day, the people next door gave him some small fish to feed them, think he would have stayed in the sea all day with them.
The rooms were spacious and clean, and the gardens were lovely sit just sit and relax, with the gate straight into the sea, it was like Paradise, much preferred it here than Bora Bora which was the main reason we visited the French Polynesia.
If i am lucky enough to return i will definitely stay at Anapa Beach again and would certainly recommend it

Relaxing Holiday

We had a wonderful time during our 5 day stay in Moorea at this gorgeous and peaceful spot. Everything we needed was provided, including basic kitchen items and replenishing of supplies mid-week. Tamara was always available when we had questions and was a good resource for info about where to buy food and pearls. The guesthouse has a gate that goes right to a beautiful snorkeling spot at the northern end of the same reef/beach as at the Sofitel, which is also within walking distance if you want to go out to a nice dinner/show or grab a drink. Anapa Beach guesthouse is a great and less expensive alternative to the overpriced resorts in the area.

We couldn't have made a better choice! You open the gate of the property and find yourself among mantas and fishes.. Take note that all the resorts nearby bring the guests in front of Anapa for the snorkeling. The bungalows are located in front of the best beach on the island and in this spot the sun shines in each moment of the day , while the Sofitel ( located at the bay's corner ) has to face the shadow of the mountain behind itself. Tamara, the owner, is too helpful and lovely, always ready to give a support, she has brought us with her car to the supermarket and has arranged for us the car rental and the transport to and from the restaurants. Here you can taste the real Polinesian life, without being locked within a resort ' walls. We hope one day we will have the luck to come back to this paradise. 

Unforgettable! 

We stayed in Moorea for 14 days.  This place was our favorite and is on the best beach in Moorea.  It is very quiet (other than roosters which are found all over the island, you can't escape them, bring ear plugs) and has everything you need.  The snorkeling off the beach is the one of the best (on par with the lagoonarium) if you swim out to the coral.  You have a perfect view of the lagoon, mountains and Tahiti.  The room comes with a kitchen so you can run to the market and cook if you want.  Stay here, you wont be disappointed!

Favorite place we stayed

My husband and I have had the pleasure of coming to Moorea 15 times. In all our stays had often wondered about the blue and white property that is visable from the public beach. We happened to inquire with the locals to find out you could stay there. We met with the most lovely host ever Tamara!
How we miss her, her life stories she shared and her place. Kyacking, snorkleing, public beach, view of Tahiti, whales stingrays, and we had the pleasure of staying in the front bungalow with air conditioning...just beautiful! Tamara offered to take us to the store or whatever we needed.  We certainly will come back to her magical place in paradise!
