Amazon Lodge Tambopata

Guide Bastian gave us 3 days of great tours - taking us to Sandoval Lake and vicinity (awesome!), on jungle walks, river trips for clay licks and cayman searching, plus other activities like kayaking, canopy ziplining, and harvesting edible plants - a packed few days with relaxed time at a simple, functional and relaxed lodge. Bastion’s knowledge of the forest and its creatures was great - on one day we saw 3 monkey species, lake otters, many birds, frogs, insects, etc.

Fantastic!  The excellent rating is not because it is a 5*  hotel, but because it is what I hope is the future of Ecotourism.  If you are looking for an isolated  adventure in the Amazonian jungle, but with exquisite planning of the facility, this is it.  There was no need for the emergency mosquito net I brought, because a very adequate net hung from the ceiling to give complete coverage if needed. (I did not hear a single mosquito buzzing). Be prepared for only cold water in the immaculate bath and light from a candle at night, since electricity is on only a few hours in the P.M.  There are charging stations in the lobby.  The employees are outstanding and it is apparent they really want to be there and want their visitors to have an unforgettable experience.

Just completed a 3 day tour with this company. utterly magical and beyond exceeded any expectations we had. 
superb organisation and communication from start to finish. incredible value for money.
we were so looked after, including catering superbly for vegetarian diet.
we upgraded to a bungalow (only 10 usd per person and definitely worth it).
without doubt our incredible guide Marcos
made this tour the best experience. he was just amazing in his knowledge about,  and  ability to spot wild life was next level.  we saw snakes, frogs, monkeys, parrots, sloth, the most beautiful flora and fauna. got to hold a baby camen that he just plucked out of the water! the list is endless! 
our boat skipper, Hilmer was so friendly and skilled, maneuvering the boat through tight spots and so we could get up close to animals without disturbing them.
can't recommend this tour highly enough. would 100 % use again.

Fantastic experience: lots of great activities from spotting the monkey, watching the famous parrots lick the red clay, kayaking down the amazing Madres de dios river and a night tour to find jungle creatures. Brilliant guide, very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Great meals. Lovely relaxing lodge.

Thanks to our guide Marco's we had a great time in Puerto Maldonado and in Tampopata Reserve. Especially the tour to Lago Sandoval is nice! We definitely recommend the hostel and the tour options there.

Excellent experience all around! It was a very affordable three-day, two night tour which was perfect for me.  Be prepared for rustic accommodations in a cabin with electricity only in the evening hours.  The food was great and my tour guide was the best!  Everyone was always on time and very attentive.

We spend 4 days, 3 nights with Tambopata Jungle Tours. It was very good. We saw a lot of different animals ( kayman, giant otters, different monkey’s, different parrots, sloths, butterflies). We had a very good English speaking guide (Marcos) who told us passionately about all flora and fauna. The food was very good. Going to back to basic with mosquito nets. We recommend this trip for sure!

This experience was so lovely it was a nice change of pace from our other tours around Peru. It was relaxing being in the jungle! Our tour guide Marcos was funny and engaging and we were able to see so much in our short visit. The food was so good and accommodating for vegetarians. If you want your own little slice of the amazon this is a perfect experience that left us wanting more.

An Unforgettable Experience in the Jungle

I booked a 5d/4n camping expedition with ‘Tambopata Jungle Tours Peru‘. It all went really smoothly. No hustle. Just enjoying the trip. It was a pity that the camping ground was down so we had to move to another spot nearby but that was also well arranged. In the end it was no camping but sometimes you canot control happenings.

I spent the first days with Abed, the owner of the business. If you have some extra wishes or want to change a bit of the itinerary he is pleased to do so. Very calm person, very friendly.

After the first days I got a new tourguide. Marcos was also very friendly but from time to time a bit too fast if it was about spotting animals in the jungle. Bird spotting was great. Shipping on Lake Sandoval was great but would have loved to put a bigger focus on ground animal spotting in Tambopata NP.

The lodges were totally fine. Clean, always possible to take a shower. The food was very good for such secluded places. If you expect 5* accommodation this is nothing for you (for example, no aircon) but if you travel in the deep jungle and want an adventure, you do not want upper class accommodations.

All in all a great trip for a valuable price, especially if you book for at least two people.

Amazing, left us wanting more

We did a 4 days/ 3 nights tour with our guide Marcos. It was amazing!! The first day we went to Sandoval Lake with a group of other people and the rest of the days we had solo tours (which was very nice). 

Activities:
Activities are well organized and Marcos is able to explain everything about the flora and fauna and the animals that you encounter. He knows a lot!! 

During our trip we were able to spot monkeys, plenty of caimans, sloths, macaws, spiders, butterflies, many other species of birds and insects. 

Food:
The food is simple, but very tasty and enough. 

Accommodation:
Nice lodge for two persons that are well equipped with mosquito nets and towels. The common area is also spaces and offers you the possibility to relax after the activities (in a hammock). 

We would definitely recommend this jungle tour, because of the knowledgeable and well-english spoken tour guide,  friendly staff and good organized activities in the Amazone jungle!!

Nice adventure tour 4 days/ 3 nights!

We had an epic time exploring the jungle with Tambopata (6 day expedition). Marcos our guide was knowledgeable, really friendly and spoke perfect English. The pace of the different excursions was good and we enjoyed the basic accommodation at both the lodge and camping and of course all the wildlife!
