All essential needs were in place, shower, toilets, table fan, wifi, hair dryer, kettle, towels etc were present. I would say its value foer the money. 

If they refurbish and renovate the hotel, I guess it will cost much and attract  more customers.!!! 

For me and my family, it was a nice 3 nights stay and with breakfast!!!!

Good Value fir Money

Ignore the negatives. Yes it’s dated but it’s been about for a long time. Check in at the right time and don’t be late for breakfast and you’re golden. John is kind, generous and very accommodating. The hotel is budget friendly and in a great location-and I do mean great location! Love the breakfast and the service is brilliant. Always a good nights sleep. The kids love it here with the size of the garden, the trampoline and John is very nice to them. Sometimes he is under a lot of pressure and it’s understandable why he gets annoyed with people. Read the reviews-“I read the reviews so wasn’t expecting much”….don’t complain then! 😂

Place run down ,staff never there,breakfast not to good,Wait 5mins of cold water , no clean towels and had to make your own bed

This hotel is very dated , beds were so worn I could feel mattress springs sticking into my back, headboards stained and dirty, car park too small and you get blocked in, leaking drains outside, lounge was ok the dining room a bit shabby but passable, breakfast was average, 2 Oriental girls serve breakfast and bend over backwards to help, then you look out the window and see the windows haven't been cleaned for ages, kettle in room but no tea coffee milk, we found out on our 3rd day of 4 you have to request the milk coffee tea while at breakfast, we survived but won't return..

Dated and run down

Stayed at this establishment for bank holiday weekend wasn’t expecting much after reading reviews and a good job I wasn’t.It’s supposed to be a budget friendly hotel,we’ll budget it was and friendly it wasn’t.The manager was obnoxious andhad no customer skills at all.The room was dirty the bathroom door had been kicked in at the bottom paint all over it and the shower cubicle was stained.Breakfast no cereal all the time we were there only full English.Thus place might be budget but it still wasn’t worth my hard earned money worse hotel I have ever been in.Please think hard before booking I never give reviews,but needed to on this occasion.

Don’t bother

It would be easy to completely run this guest house down but I think that would be unfair. The bottom line is that it is very cheap so just don’t expect much. We booked at very short notice and this was the only one that could accommodate us. 
The first room we were given, in which we only stayed for one night was terrible, incredibly small and half the room was very low due to the roof, not very clean and had an electrical socket that was taped up! We were moved to a much better room which was still very tired but adequate.
There’s not much choice with regards to breakfast but their full English was fine for me. My partner just wanted cereal but they appeared to have run out and it was not replenished during our stay. There is a bar, but it has no drink! You are told to help yourself and settle up in the morning but there is literally nothing there apart from some bottled ale. All the optics and draught taps are empty.
On the plus side there is free parking, the position is great and the staff (which you’ll only see in the morning) were friendly. I have to say we only paid £480 for 6 nights in August which is very cheap and it didn’t affect our holiday as we were out most of the time. If you are looking for a very cheap guest house with absolutely no frills then maybe you would not be disappointed and bag yourself a cheap holiday. But be aware before you book there are definitely no frills!

Be cautious

It’s very hard to put into words my experience of this hotel! The positives are it’s close to the beach and if you can find a space for your car grab it otherwise you will be on the street or blocked in. Reception is a strong word, try and find someone to check you in, unfortunately hotel and rooms are very tired and dated, wallpaper off the walls, electric sockets hanging off, draughty , and sad.
The owner is quite unorthodox as a hotelier we found him one day in the lounge fast asleep on a sofa. What I find quite disturbing is the condition of electrics.
Please go with an open mind without too many expectations

What an experience

We, myself and a good friend, both full-service Army pensioners, with our wives, all of us in our 70s and 80s, were on the island for the funeral of another good friend who was also a full-service Army pensioner.  Being a Bank Holiday (31/5/21) we had had difficulty booking and had taken one of the few hotels which showed two double rooms available.
We advised the Altavia that we would arrive between 4 and 5pm and it was about 4pm when we pulled into the car park. The car park, which holds a maximum of 10 vehicles, was full and there was no available parking in the road outside so we
parked behind another car and went inside the hotel knowing that, if someone wished to move their blocked vehicle, we were readily available to move ours.
There was no-one in reception and we saw no bell on the counter.  My wife went through into the adjoining dining area but saw no-one.  On returning she noticed a school-type bell on the wall and rang this.  After a while, I and my friend went 
through into the dining and surrounding areas but saw no-one.  We rang the bell again.  My friend and I then went out to the car and brought in our suitcases etc. On returning, my wife said that she had just rang the bell again.
I then saw a man walk across the dining area so went through the doors in the hope of speaking to him but he went up some stairs and disappeared.
We then telephoned the hotel but the telephone rang in reception next to us and went unanswered. Shortly afterwards, the man I had seen crossing the dining area, came through the dining area, opened the door slightly and put his head
through the gap. At this point, the usual greeting would be, "Good afternoon, Sorry to keep you waiting. Can I help you?" but all he said was, "What!". My wife said that we had been waiting 10 minutes - it was more like 15-20 - and the man said it was only 5. (This indicated that he had seen us earlier but chosen to ignore us).  The man did not identify himself so we do not know if he is the owner, manager or member of staff but he said that the hotel had 70 people staying, the busiest ever, he was on his own and trying to do 50 jobs at once. My wife then said that we had rung the bell three times to which, pointing to my wife, he said that he didn't like her attitude and he was asking us to leave. He followed us to the car park repeatedly asking who we had booked through and which of us had made the booking.  I gave him my name and advised him not to try and charge us for anything.
Throughout our full Army careers, our subsequent civilian careers and retirements, we have never, in all our very extensive travels around the UK and the world, encountered such a problem or such a rude, ignorant and unhelpful person. This man should never be in, or connected in any way to, the hospitality trade where dealing with people and good customer service is essential.   
We advise that visitors to the beautiful Isle of Wight give this hotel a very wide berth whilst he has anything to do with it.
Fortunately the wonderful staff in the, nearby, excellent, Wight Bay Hotel were much more helpful and, with some extra work by them, provided us with good rooms for the night and hearty breakfasts. We recommend that you try there - or anywhere else - instead.

Do not stay here

The bathroom door could not be locked from inside. There is no ventilation in the toilet so after finishing the business, the bad smell could not escape apart from the main window of the room. The hot water in the sink was not working.

overprice but underrated.

You get what you pay for. Staff is super nice and friendly. Room not so great. Very out dated. Bathroom extremely outdated. Tv never worked at all. Breakfast was ok. Nothing to write home about but can’t really complain either. Served its purpose.
