B&B Casa Zeni

We booked here as a stopover on our trip back to Germany and were delighted we did! Set high in the vine and apple growing, west facing slopes of the Adige Valley, this superbly run bed and breakfast more than met our expectations. Although our Italian skills amount to only a few words and greetings we were welcomed like family and shown our rooms where we instantly felt at home. Everything was clean and fresh, and I mean impeccably clean, not just acceptably clean. Our spacious bedroom was tastefully furnished in country styling and comfortable, the bathroom roomy though as often the case even in much dearer establishments, the shower a little on the small side. Our friend stopping in an adjacent room had even more room as the bathroom was fitted for the disabled, something I thought a good idea. The outside stairs to the rooms also had a chairlift. The view from the room was wonderful, as seen by the pictures, and the mountain air a tonic for the lungs! A roofed and patioed seating area meant we could enjoy our local wine in the sunlight. On our visit the restaurant was closed for the holidays, though we were informed of this in advance and drove in the evening to the Monreal, which I shall also review. Breakfast was served in a downstairs room, fresh breads and very fresh coffee, jams and exquisite home made cakes - a typical italian breakfast for the region. Our friend missed her savoury cheeses and hams, which also sometimes belong, but we were happy with our lot, rounded off with the local apple juice. Our two nights here were wonderful, our hostess made us feel more than at home. I only hope my positive reviews mean I can someday rebook here, not that there are no rooms available in the future 😉
