Acqua Blu Boutique Hotel

What a charming little place far away from the popular busy&noisy Greek vacation destinations such as Santorini and Mykonos! If you hate bumping into other tourists from your own country in every 50 metres, being waken up in the middle of the night by loud party music, having your neighbour placing her beach towel literally 2inches from yours, waiting half an hour for a table at the local tavern, being served low-quality food in over-touristic places, being ripped off in fancy places but getting no value for your money - than save yourself these holiday bummers and come to Patmos! We had the luck to hear about this place from a friend who went there in 2019 and absolutely loved it! We decided to leave everything behind and go for an island hopping trip for an entire month. Patmos was our last destination but definitely the highlight of the entire trip! Kostas, the owner was always very attentive to all our needs. He agreed to pick us up at the port in spite of our late arrival and he even helped with our luggages. We immediately got a nice touch of the famous Greek hospitality! He offered us to take us to the car rental place and helped with the translation when it was needed. Prices in the island are very reasonable and affordable which was a relief after our month-long island hopping tour. He is a very nice and funny guy, and we felt at ease with him to ask any question or request. The rooms have a cute minimalistic island style, but hey.. what more you need when you open the balcony door in the morning and all you see is shimmering turquoise waters? We started our day by the pool having breakfast that was wholesome and made of very fresh local products. The veggies and fruits taste entirely different in places where there is 300 day of sunshine a year! The portions are big, and you can take as much as your plate and stomach bears! The pool was always super clean and they served us all kind of cocktail combinations we asked for! The hotel is situated in an ideal spot since all the touristic sights and beaches are very close to it. Patmos is a great place is you want to combine beach time with culture exploration (you can visit the medieval village with its byzantine fortress as well as some monasteries and religious caves) during your vacation. Skala, the main village, is only 5 mins distance by foot. The best long sandy beach around is Agriolibado, which is ideal for families with small kids as the water deepens slowly and gradually. There are no sea urchins to watch for. We’ve already booked our next vacation to Acqua Blu for this coming August!
