Omau Settlers Lodge Motel

A real find. Great accommodation at a bargain price. Wonderful proprietor who was just exceptional!

We stayed the night and found the motel to be comfy and warm and clean - the location was excellent, and the evening pub meal next door was lovely, the continental breakfast and the breakfast room was lovely - the host was friendly & pleasant. Would definitely stay again and explore the district further. Thanks.

The location of this motel was fantastic. We loved the ocean, mountain and starry night views. We were able to walk to a restaurant for dinner, which was so nice after a long day of driving. The owner was welcoming and funny. I think I made a new friend. The rooms were spacious, well appointed and clean. I wish we could have stayed longer. Maybe on our next trip...

What a fantastic Motel. Great views of the ocean, mountains and stars. Just a short walk to a restaurant which after a long day of driving was just what we needed. A lovely continental breakfast was included. The rooms are spacious, well appointed, clean and comfortable. We took advantage of its close proximity to the lighthouse and Seal Rocks for some sunset pictures. Sure there are lots of places to see seals in NZ, but if you're like me, you can't see enough of them. I would definitley stay here again.

Lovely lady at reception so welcoming, somehow I'd missed that continental breakfast was included with our stay & that they had a spa pool on site. 

King deluxe room - has a little kitchenette & dining table, unit was spacious & clean, comfy bed, nice views through front & back entrances to room, both overlooking the garden.  Nice bathroom.  TV had chromecast which was handy but we never used.  BBQ area for guests also but we were not in cooking mode. 

Across road is the Star Tavern, handy for dinner & drinks, bit further round corner was the domain that overlooks the ocean.  1km up the road is another walk up to the light house, a nice stroll for after dinner.  Got back too late to use spa, guess I'll have to go back again. 


Excellent continental breakfast, and a great suite with a view

Absolutely fabulous as always.  Lovely and quiet and spotlessly clean.  A great welcome when we arrive.      The views are amazing, and lots of great walks.   A wonderful breakfast is a bonus.  Cannot  wait until our next visit  just wish we could come more often

Lovely receptionist, great little unit.  However an aircon would have been appreciated in the heat.  An added bonus having a continental breakfast supplied for guests.  Location is beautiful, it’s 10 minutes out of town so only a pub next door to eat unless you drive back into town.  Lovely coastal walking tracks and going up to lighthouse.

Idyllic spot ☺️

A one night stay but wish it was longer so we could walk the seacliff trails and sit on our verandah and admire the views. A small unit but it had everything we needed.Breakfast was provided in the breakfast room. The usual cereal toast and coffee suited us fine. A good opportunity to meet some interesting fellow travellers.

Very good stay at Cape Foulwind..

A pleasant one night stay at this motel but wished it was for longer as the verandahs were welcoming as a place to relax with views or a book in hand.
The unit was not large but gave us all we needed. Comfy bed, reading lamps, choice of blanket and pillows, fan, ironing board, fridge and kettle, well designed bathroom with shower. A light breakfast was provided in the breakfast room with coffee or tea.
This was a chance to meet fellow travellers, always an interesting experience.
The owner was very helpful and cheerful.

Comfortable overnight stay, wish it was longer.

Pleasant surprise, Pamela was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great scenic spot. The tavern being within walking distance a bonus even though we didnt visit. Rooms were well appointed but felt it needed a deep clean, heater was covered in dust. Breakfast room was a great set up as a shared space with more than enough for a continental breakfast. Dudnt use the spa but nice that Pamela let me know. Loved meeting their friendly dog Meeka. Would recommend as a restful escape in a NZ west coast setting.

Omau Foulwinds accommodation

Charming motel in quaint area, close proximity to beach trails, a seal colony, penguin site, with walkable trails and restaurants nearby. The hosts were personable and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed the use of the hot tub in tropical setting with the local Wecka roaming around. Loved this spot and would highly recommend it!

It was a pleasant stop and enjoyed the comforts of our stay.

My husband and I stayed here for one night as we were travelling through to Abel Tasman. The location was perfect we found. We hiked to Seal Colony and saw a bunch of seals ! Drove to Westport for dinner which was lovely. The accommodation was splendid. We had a king bed with lots of blankets so we were ultra comfortable and warm. The bathroom was clean and the toiletries were much appreciated. The back sliding door had a view of the lush flowers and trees. The hot tub was very enjoyable after walking in the rain. Fresh bath towels for it and you can tell it was well maintained. Breakfast was just enough to start our road trip again. Definitely would recommend staying here.
