Hotel Mardin

This was my first trip to Germany and I booked up to stay at this hotel in Berlin for seven days. It was very reasonably priced. Although not in the centre of Berlin, it is only a twenty minute train journey away in Hoppegarten and not far from a horse-racing course which is one of the biggest in Europe. The nearest station to the hotel is Birkenstein, which is about a fifteen minute walk. I found it best to get the train into the city centre from there, instead of Hoppegarten. There is a bus that runs to the hotel every hour, but I found the walk to and from the station very pleasant so I didn't take it. I don't think the staff at the hotel were fluent in English, but they seemed to understand most of what I said to them. The room was nice and clean and so was the bathroom. The cleaners came in every day to tidy up and empty the rubbish bins. The room had a tv and the wi-fi was very good. There were no cooking facilities but that was reflected in the price I paid so I expected that. I took my travel kettle with me, so I could make my own tea and coffee. There is a huge REWE supermarket right next to the station so I was able to shop there for anything I needed after returning from sightseeing at the end of the day. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to stay in a quieter part of the city and if I ever go back to Berlin I will definitely be staying there again.
