Schiller5 is a lovely hotel modern , bright well appointed. The staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. The location is handy for both the main rail station and the old town. It is in a dodgy part of town , but nothing that would put us off recommending. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, with nice touches , all overseen by the charming owner. Old fashioned care in a modern setting.

Perfect Stay

We chose this hotel because the location is good and rooms have kitchenette. We were travelling with 10 months old baby and requested quiet room facing patio. Really liked the room and there was no noise from the streets and we were sleeping already at 9 o'clock in the evening.We had great tips about local restorants and baby staff  from the reception.

Travelling with a baby

Our stay in this hotel was so comfortable. It's convenient to the central station (you will easily find the big signboard from the street), having clean and comfortable room with well-designed electrical appliances and tasty breakfast.
Every receptionist are so kind and helpful. We could have very delicious dinner at a restaurant near from the hotel, thanks to the receptionist. ( actually, we were so satisfied that we had dinner there 2 times during our 2 days stay in Munich! )

We (couple) stayed for sightseeing, but other customers almost seemed for business trip.
Families have better to choose other hotel, because I saw there no families.

Good Location and Excellent staffs!

Elegant and simple. Very nice bed. Clean room. Close to the main train station. Friendly staff. It was perfect for a business trip. I can absolutely recommend it, and I would choose this hotel again. Great value for your money.

Perfect

I booked thru Trip Advisor and believe that this is a reason I was put on a lower floor that was undergoing construction.  The room was ample size and geographically located near where I wanted to be.  There were several strip clubs close by and was deemed a Red Light District, hardly noticed this either in the at or the evening.

The desk at the hotel is great, anything I asked for they were able to accommodate, from a plug converter to umbrella's.  

The only complaint was the construction that began at 7am and shut down about 16:00.
Staircase carpets were being replaced the first day I arrived and required using the elevator.

Bathrooms were a bit small and shower was definitely 1 person.

I'd stay here again, but I'd ask it construction was finished or I could be placed on a floor far from construction noise.

Good Place, Great Location, Construction SUCKS

The hotel was recommended by my Boss who stays there every time he is in Munich. It was pleasant and the stay was comfortable beyond words. The entrance to the hotel is in a small gully which makes for a very subtle elegance as opposed to most of the grand lobby entrances we see nowadays. The breakfast spread is amazing, the internet is fast and hassle-free and the staff is very accommodating. Special props to Gunjel who was an extremely gracious hostess at the breakfast spread. Will definitely return. And lots of respect going out to the elderly owner of the place who makes it a point to come and greet his guests during breakfast. Being a true Gentleman, He even takes the pains to ask you where you're from and greet you in the language of your home country.

Strategically one of the best hotels I've stayed in

We had a vast room. Very clean, well equipped and maintained.  Comfy bed and a nice TV corner with sofa. There was a nice desk and it was comfortable to work there. Excellent lighting includes reading lamps on both sides of the bed (most of the hotels do not have it as good as it is at Schiller 5). Nice decoration. Excellent breakfast buffet. Very helpful and friendly front desk staff. The owner is present in the morning and welcomes the guest cordially.  
Good location within walking distance to the major attractions of Munich. Adjacent to the central train station of the city and the S and U transportation system.
As others mentioned, there are indeed some shady businesses nearby (strip club), but we did not feel it bothered us.
We liked the hotel very much.

Very Good Hotel

My friends and I went to Oktoberfest this year. Schiller 5 was the perfect base of operations. Just a couple stops on the metro from the festival grounds. Rooms were very posh and clean. The breakfast was really good and was a great way to prep for the day’s festivities. The owner is super nice and loves having people of all kinds at his establishment. I could not recommend this place more.

Perfect HQ for Oktoberfest

I stayed with them in December and have to say that the staff is definitely one of the high points. Jennifer and Andreas really go out of the way to make life easier for you. As far as the hotel I concerned the entry into the hotel doesn't look very promising but as soon  as you're inside it's a different world. The location is good. It's just a short walk to marienplatz and lots of cafes and eating joints are close by. The breakfast buffet is lovely especially considering we were vegetarians we had enough options to eat. The rooms are nice and well kept. Our rooms even had a small kitchen with enough for you to be able to toss yourself a quick snack. The only issue was that they wouldn't provide additional tea bags in the rooms but then you could drink as many cups of tea/coffee or water at the reception. One things that definitely leaves a mark is that the owner of the hotel makes an effort to come and meet all residents and enquire about their comfort. The reception also helps in arranging for day trips. I also read some reviews which mentioned that the locality wasn't great but honestly one would never figure because it was never in your face so it didn't bother.
Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel!!
