We camped at Mu-Fungata. The camp wasn't really a designated area however there was a bathroom which was clean, showers big. Toilets a bit dark but alright. Solar powered lighting didn't work well enough. Maybe the panels needed a clean as it gets very dusty in this area. Great sinks outside to do washing up. 
I would place a trash container so there is a lid that closes as for now monkeys kept on taking it all out daily (normal in the bush).

The dining room/bar (boma) during daytime was fine, pretty. Nice interior and felt cosy, homely. At night we had issues with power. Only solution was to sit at the fire. Again we had issues getting a drink from the bar, nobody was there. Not very welcoming.

Breakfast was very basic, would have loved toast and jam or something like that. Or just a little more on offer apart from the eggs and sausage (which was nice).
Downside on the other hand is that the owners forgot we were having breakfast with them, we waited for hours for someone (as there was nobody at camp) to come. Very apologetic but when you are the only customers you expect at least someone to be at the boma or somewhere in the camp at least.

Dinner was nice, we enjoyed the kitchen. Portions of meat could have been a bit more. Good chef. But I have to say there was a set time for dinner, which is quite usual but I would rather say in between 18.30 and 20h or something like that. But this is a minor thing.

Following was a bigger issue. We wanted to cool down but the pool was very dirty and I rather not take chances with still water. There were also no showers or a shower and a bathroom here which would have been better. 
Not only the pool but also the hammock they provided at the pool terrace and the seats couldn't be used as they were broken everywhere, dirty, and no cushions. We found one cushion but honestly it was so dirty I rather sat on the floor.
Beautiful space though, design as well, overlooking the pool for wildlife to drink. At a certain point I was maybe 10 meters from a puku. Impressive.

All in all this camp/lodge had everything you would want, but most of it was either broken or dirty. 
No watering of the 'garden', no maintenance in roofs, treehouse (pretty vieuws!), no maintenance of terrace or furniture, no paths, seating, relaxing rooms. Everything seemed tired and it seemed like nobody really cared. 
I think a bit of cleaning and basic maintenance would go far at this camp. Again, infrastructure is pretty and camp is, if you can see through all of it, very pretty.

On the other hand, Bonnie and her children were very welcoming. They tried making it comfortable for us when we saw them. They were very nice and accommodating, it was my birthday and I even got gifts and homemade cake! Very generous family. Kind people. It is just sad that this beautiful lodge feels tired and neglected a bit.

We went for a game drive with David and he obviously knew Kafue park well. We had a big highlight which were two leopards looking after their kill. Beautiful and big cats.

Had some issues with understanding who was who and which task or which roll everyone played in the camp. A bit difficult. A lot of people, kind people in the camp to take care of us but apart from Bonnie and her children: David, Donovan and Sheila; I did not know who I was meant to ask what. 

If I had known I probably would not have stayed in this camp. I am sorry to say this as I feel compassionate towards Bonnie and her family. 
But for a bit more money we could have stayed in a more welcoming and taken care of camp/lodge. 

I sincerely regret the way the camp looked at I saw such a big potential!

I did enjoy overal stay and interaction with the family and hope they will do well in the future and this was just a little hiccup.

Stay at camp at Mu-Fungata

we tried diffrent places in the Kafue national park, this is the best by far. it's right next to the river with a beautiful view. excellent food at a affordable price. if you want the owners can tell you a lot about the animal and the area. there is a really good chance to spot a leopard, lion and cheetahs. also hippos and elefants are arounds. overall it's clean, not touristy and relaxing. 

Perfect Lodge 

Mu Fungata is an oasis in the Wilderness.  If you're looking for a comfortable slice of civilization from where to explore the wild lands, this is the place for you.  Clean and neat, the atmosphere and ambience are unique.  Family run by Zambians and not foreigners.  You are made to feel a part of the family.  Bonny and her kids' passion for the bush is infectious, as well as their sense of fun and adventure. I will be returning!
