Khách Sạn Minh Phương

We had an enjoyable 45 minute stop at Minh Phuong as part of our group tour of HCMC. They had a decent educational display to show all steps of the laquering process. We got to see a craftsman doing some eggshell inlay. Minh Phuong is definitely a larger-scale operation designed to accommodate bus loads of tourists, but that isn't necessarily a negative. The sales and display area is nicely put together with a huge selection of objects and artwork, some at decent prices. What was a bit awkward was to have the sales staff watch us like hawks and follow us around incessantly. On the whole, Minh Phuong was an enjoyable stop and a good option for finding some laquerware to take home.
