Ho Chi Minh is a expensive city so it's difficult to find a decent place to stay on budget. Blue river 2 hotel was good, comfortable and it comes with free breakfast. Room was clean and spacious.  The location is ok (1km from Pham Ngu Lao) 
The owner is a lovely girl. 

The place is clean. Rooms have aircon TV bathroom. The check in easy. Is always my first choice for the first day when I arrive Ho Chi Minh. It includes breakfast which consists of a choice of fries eggs.. Omelet with bread etc.. And  a coffee or tea. The price is good.. About 7 euros for double room. 

The downside is that is 10 min walk to all bars area. Is in a quiet area..far from all the other hotels..restaurants.. Etc. And that is a bit harder to find as it is in an alley.

Back for the 4th time.The owner of this small hotel is a sister of Mrs. Thuy former owner of Blue River Hotel I and III in Pham Ngu Lao district. 
Located in a quiet alley at the center of Sai Gon this hotel offer clean room and safe stay for low price with friendly service.
Only 15 minutes walk to town central.

This place is great, not flash, but perfect for weary travellers and city dwellers needing a good night's kip. It's a short walk away from the main Rd and central tourist areas, down a quiet street but close to good restaurants. The room was clean & comfy with good beds, AC, bathroom and TV, the price was reasonable and there was a simple breakfast in the morning. We were very satisfied and even more delighted when we were lucky enough to catch one of the ladies daughters playing beautifully on the baby grand piano. Would recommend. 

11$ for a room with a double bed and breakfast is a good price. The location is nice. It was a bit tricky to find it cause it's hidden. You've got all the most important tourist places around you. We had a room without a window. She didn't like it, for me it didn't really change anything.

So when you are not paying very much money it pays to have realistic expectations. The hosts were lovely but not very good English, in fact we needed Google translator just to get towels but that was kind of funny. The positive, well it is cheap, it is pretty quiet given the throng of HCMC, the air con worked a treat and the simple breakfast was included. The negative, the worst bit for us was that the bed was so hard and pillows not great, not super clean and the lift had a mouldy smell. The location is ok, whilst not much in the way of pubs or many restaurants nearby it is only a 15 minute walk to backpackers area or into Pasteur Street.

What you woud expect for the price!

Considering how cheap it was, overall this hotel wasn’t too bad. No frills. Cheap and cheery. 

Positives: The air conditioner worked a treat and kept the room very cool. The owner was lovely and despite having very limited English, understood our charades to demonstrate what we were talking about. She was friendly and smiley. Breakfast each morning was lovely - three choices, all cooked fresh. It’s reasonably close to the action, within walking distance to bars, street food and restaurants in the backpackers area. The rooms are elevated so there’s no risk of flooding after the daily torrential downpours. It’s Ok for people who don’t mind walking 20+ minutes through the hectic streets and crossing the crazy intersections through non-stop, weaving bikes, mopeds, cars and buses to get to places. This can be considered a high-Adrenalin bonus! 

Negatives: The bathroom had been hosed down before we arrived and was still very wet. The toilet roll in the holder was soaked, and was sitting on top of another toilet roll insert which had been stuffed with used toiled paper. Revolting! The bed was uncomfortable - extremely hard and the two pillows were very thin and hard also. They had no other pillows available. The small elevator has a very strong stench of mold. 



No frills, cheap and cheery accommodation.

I thought it would be closer to food and shopping but come to find its right smack dab in the middle of a motorcycle repair district, really nothing but motorcycle repair shops and parts shops for several blocks, we have to walk 1-1.5km to get to the street foods, closest market is 1.5km. We were on the 5th floor and the lift only goes to floor #4, have to walk the final flight of stairs. No daily housecleaning but we didn’t mind too much but they only supplied 2 tiny bars of soap, around a 1.5” square that lasted 2 showers, had to buy a couple bars from a store, toilet paper was around 1/3 if a roll. Upon entering the room the air was turned off and it was hotter than hell but the a/c cooks it down on full blast, just make sure to leave it on your entire stay. Bathroom is fairly decent and the 2 single beds are decently comfortable, there’s a stocked refrigerator with coke, Pepsi, water and Heinekens. The free breakfast is an egg, baguette and very good coffee, wasn’t expecting much with going with a lower end room but would have been nice to have enough soap for 4 nights. A half decent view of the city.

Its a pretty decent location. We could walk to most of the places. Its more calm than the district 1 backpacker streets. The rooms are average. AC, sure. They could have cleaned them a little bit better and more often. In a 3 days stay they didnt touch our room. No new towels, linnenes or even shower proucts. 

I would not stay here again. It might be good for a night. But wouldnt recommend anyone staying longer.

You get what you pay for

Location of the hotel is good its near Fine Arts Museum and Ben Thanh Market however you cant easily find the hotel because its situated inside a building, you have to pass another building to get there its not in front of the road. Only one staff know a little english so its very difficult to communicate with them if you ask some direction. You have to wait for the staff or the owner in order to ask some questions or get information. However the room is good, breakfast is good also, they offer 2 menus only, a bread, fried egg or scrambled egg with coffee or tea.
