Very large clean rooms and close to the town centre. Next door to a supermarket and across the road from the beach. You can gain access to the beach through either the Mai Spa Resort, the Thien Thanh Resort or Thien Hai Son Resort. About 10 minutes walk from the town centre, a taxi costs $2. Seems it is now called the New Sun and is linked to the New Sun Bar Kaffe. Which is the best cocktail bar in town!

Phoneix now Newsun Hotel

At present known as "New Sun Hotel" Being confident with traveling around budget hotels in SEA (South East Asia) and not expecting anything special but just a clean room with a functional bathroom (hot water) I was disappointed by the lack of hot water (and sometime water at all) and continuous electrical shut-down which were not avoided by using a reliable generator (as the overwhelming majority of all other budget resorts in the area) I am not fussy about hotels but the Phoenix hotel in Phu Quoc was definitely a low quality service for a budget hotel too. Can easily find better budget facilities. The hotel closed the gate quite early at night and no personnel was readily available at night at the reception desk. The hotel was managed by the owner of the New Sun kaffe "restaurant" which is located 1 km away and is used as breakfast place for clients. Access to breakfast requires moving to different location. The hotel service and attitude requires improvement; I was insistently offered all type of excursion, tours, definitely not staying there anymore.
