Amazing Little home stay, with fantastic hosts, we were made to feel extremely welcome.... and the food.. wow!! that just made the whole stay incredible.
From the moment we arrived, till the moment we left we were treated like royalty, they really could not have done anything more for us.
It's a homestay so as you would expect bamboo houses, and no air con.. but Wifi, smiles, fridges and big smiles and amazing food just made it incredible.

Fantastic Homestay in beautiful surroundings

We enjoyed our time at this homestay and met some lovely people staying there. The owners (we think) were a friendly guy with very little English and his friendly wife (also no English).  

Upon arrival we were told that the booking was cancelled 2 days ago due to the card not being able to be charged, something that never happens with our HSBC card in Vietnam. They were kind enough to let us stay in a room the size of a double bed + half a foot all the way around for a fraction of the price, 350,000 VND.  We were put onto a call to someone who spoke English well and told that the next day we could move to another room.  The next day we went out on a day trip and returned to be told that a group had made a big booking so we couldn't stay. Then we were offered the small room again but politely declined. 

The rooms all have paper thin walls but look nice and traditional. Shared toilet and shower wasn't a problem at 7am.  We were kept awake until 2 - 3 am by chatting in the little restaurant and then woke. At 6:15am by the resident children kicking cans around and the other guests trying to decipher what a tour guide was saying before they set out. 

The garden area is small but pleasant. There are some funny Ostriches that run around in formation when you get too close. There's a dog permanently in a very small cage that wasn't nice to see and a pig in a similar condition.  We had our own small dog with us so it was probably for the best during our stay. 

The breakfast was instant noodles and an egg slightly over fried, probably twice.  The owners allow you to bring food and drinks in, from the only shop within walking distance, down the road - so not too bad of you like the crisps and sweets collection down there. There's a little Pho place down the road but you'll need a bike to get there comfortably. The menu for lunch / dinner is 3 sets. Each with a little more than the other. The chicken on set 2 was nice and lovely Tofu. Bad bean sprouts. Generally enjoyed it though. 

The location is slightly out of the way for the trips to Ba Vi national park but if you're on a bike it's no problem. 

Overall a decent stay but a lot to work on. We weren't too happy about the booking being cancelled and suspect it may have been due to a more lucrative offer from the group booking but will never know.  The rooms were quite expensive originally ($70 on Agoda) for the type of place, level of service & food, and location - but you won't go too far wrong here. Ask for the small room next to the noise if you want the cheapest rate. 

This place is best for backpackers, try calling direct to get the best deal. There were a few Vietnamese family / friends staying there when we left.
