Being a westerner in Vung Tau is quite rare based on my experience, and the staff of Amis hotel made me feel right at home. Only one or two of them spoke English but they did all they could to help me out, and there really were no communication issues. I stayed in a standard room as I am traveling alone and on a budget, and this hotel was extremely good value. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and large. The tv was brand new and had many channels in both Vietnamese and English. The bathroom was small but clean and nice with marble and a bathtub. I only stayed for two nights but I would definitely recommend this hotel, and I'd stay there again if I return to Vung Tau. It was also just half a kilometre from the beach which makes the rates more competititve, and there is a lot of food options right outside. In fact the best coffee I've ever had was from a stand just to the right of the hotel entrance. It was called Phale Tra Cafe, check it out if you stay here!
