Rubis Hostel

Went here for 9 days. It was amazing. They treat you like family. Some prefer to be treated as a customer but I prefer to be treated as family. You can sit down at the table and suddenly other people will join you for a good time. I had many awesome conversations at the table. The owner Rin, is so soft spoken. He makes you feel welcome. I won't see this guy anger. He is so relaxed and chill it's inviting. I visited Hue with family and friends and stayed for two months. This place was one of my many stays and it was on top of my list due to how comfortable it was. This is my home away from home. I will be stopping by here next time I'm in the area. Ask for Rin. You'll see what I mean. 

The time of our lives

The hostel is small, with free access to drinking water and bicycles. The room we had was clean and nice. The staff of young women is amazing, very helpful! The neighbourhood is a bit country-like, with mostly families, very pleasant to bike around. And it's very cheap too!

Great stay in a great hostel

The room is extremely basic with ants everywhere and limited hot water. The “rooftop” is full of clothing and the kitchen area is filthy. The girls seem very nice and helpful but when renting a bike will ask where you are going acting all excited then tell you it’s more money to rent the bike To go to that location.. even tho you rent it for 1 day.. you are not allowed to wear shoes anywhere in the hotel so have to keep them at the front, the staff knew someone had stolen an expensive pair of shoes from us and when the manager came he acted far too scared to talk to us. Had to leave without the shoes.. the staff posted them a few days later to our next hotel but only once we demanded they were given back from whoever friend of theirs took them. Can’t tell who actually works in the hotel but If you do try to raise an issue you will have an audience from other Vietnamese people, very intimidating when all you’re trying to do is get your possessions back. Bad location in a scary dark area 30 mins walk to the centre of town. Don’t bother going here, look for somewhere in western corner.. far far nicer and you won’t have to deal with these thieves.

Money grabbing thieves.

We thoroughly enjoyed exploring Hue and this hostel was the perfect place for us to relax. The food was very good and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. As well it was an ideal location for exploring Hue.

A wonderful place to stay while enjoying this fascinating city

The room is eclectic, but very clean, and with your kindness, the team has given us the day, and the hostel is about 15 minutes from the city center, but that's no problem, because they give away free bicycles.

Very nice accommodation

We just lived here for one night, but we had a really friendly welcome and on our second day we could leave our luggage there and also take a shower after a long hot tour in hue. In fact like coming home after a long day.

Really really friendly 

Was a very good clean place for the money, provided soap in the showers with toothbrushes and toothpaste. Which is always a bonus for budget travelers. Very friendly staff that go out their way to help you, with advice on travels. Chi was very friendly and helped me to learn more about hue. The owner also gave me some local corn to try once, talked to me about my travels and gave me some recommendations. The breakfast is a great way to start the day. Also there is a rooftop that can be used to chill out. Unfortunately it rained a lot while I was there so I didn't use it so much but in the dry season the view would be nice to see and hang out with some friends or meet new people. They also offer free bicycles to ride around the city which is great for exercise and to see the city faster. Check out the cafe about a 3 minute walk away with the koi carp. Nice spot to relax and get some cakes. 

Stayed for about 10 days - Best value in town 

From day one we were very well received, always taking into account our needs, they made us a list of things to do for our stay. The weather didn't help much, yet they always welcomed us with tea or coffee to take the cold from the rain. The rooms were super clean. Our flight left very early and we arranged for lunch and everything. Thank you so much from Mexico!!!!!

The best hosts 

I arrived at the hostel injured due to a motorbike mishap but the receptionist and owner were extremely helpful and sincere in helping. The owner personally brought me out to the pharmacy, supermarket, and bus station; and recommended several budget places which were indeed extraordinarily cheap. 

He even went the extra mile to arrange bus transport for my friend and I at reasonable local prices, and made arrangements for our motorbikes to be sent on from Hue to Hanoi.

Highly recommended. Will come back to the same hostel if I do visit Hue again.

Highly recommended

We stayed here for 1 night - we were brought hot tea to our room by Rin the owner as it was raining outside and we were cold. He also drew us a map to a little vegan/vegetarian restaurant nearby.  We needed to get to Laos the next day and he went to the station for us at night to check train times.  The next morning we were struggling to communicate with the train staff and he came to help us out really early in the morning.  What an amazing human being - so friendly,helpful and meeting him was one of the highlights of our time travelling around Asia. We will definitely be back to see him if we return to Hue.  Thank you Rubis and Rin....
