Boléro Garden Capsule Hotel

The hosts are very genuine and kind-hearted people. Minh was extremely helpful in pointing out some good spots to eat, and directing me to some of the popular tourist attractions. It made for a very welcoming and enjoyable stay. Each day, the breakfast was different. It was a variation of a traditional breakfast. The capsules are spacious and comfortable; they are equipped with a fan to ensure good air circulation while resting/sleeping inside. The shower is an all-in-one wash room. There is plenty of hot water, but a little more water pressure in the shower, would've been ideal. Nonetheless, it was still adequate. There is a large living room area, where you can enjoy nature: weather, sounds of birds, roosters, etc... There are also a few eating areas outside, including the restaurant area in the front/side yard. It's quite a quaint place. Great for some quiet time, or just to read a book. I have stayed in a number of hostels and guesthouses, but this is my first homestay. It's been a great experience. If the family is as inviting as the hosts here, you are bound to get a better grasp of the culture and "live, and experience, Vietnam like the locals do". It was a great stay and experience. The location is quite centrally located. It's between Monkey Mountain, and Marble Mountain. Marble Mountain is on the way to HoiAn. If you plan to get tailored suits, shirts, coats made in HoiAn, I would suggest renting a scooter. Minh arranged for this...because it requires 2-3 fittings. HoiAn is about a 30mins scooter ride from Bolero. It's a easy cruise down the road beside the East Sea. Minh deals with a local vendor for the scooter rental. The (per day) prices were: 100000VND for a standard transmission scooter, and 130000 VND for one with an automatic transmission. This was my first experience at a "homestay". I'm not sure if all families are as welcoming and inviting as Minh's family. They treated me like a close family friend. I was planning to take a cooking class, and Minh suggested that I just watch him. Haha. It was perfect. My main reason for wanting to attend the cooking class was to learn how to use some of their cultural ingredients. Once a week, the family makes dinner for all of the house guests. If you are lucky enough to be here on the day that it happens, count your blessings. It's a home cooked meal, using various Vietnamese ingredients, and flavors. It was delicious. There was also a house guest who I didn't see much. He typically came and went, and when he was home, he stayed in his capsule. The capsule is quite spacious. My point is that the family seems to have a good gauge about what makes their guests comfortable. If they want to interact, they will. If they want quiet time, then that's also respected. It's worth mentioning that they have 3 dogs; in case, it's an issue for some travellers. I have pet allergies, but was not affected by them. They are friendly pets and typically did their own thing. I'm very happy that I stayed at Bolero, and would choose to stay here again, if/when I return to DaNang. The property is suitable for solo travellers, couples and groups. They have a restaurant in the front area of the house, since the house it gated. It can hold quite a number of people out there, and is great for breakfast, reading, eating, etc. They also have cable TV. Most channels have english audio, with vietnamese subtitles. There are a few sports channels and news as well. The rooms, where the capsules are, is well air conditioned, and very comfortable. Facilities were clean. But realize that they embrace nature, so the doors are kept open during the day. I didn't mind because it's a part of the culture and I enjoyed the entire experience.
