The hosts are absolutely lovely people and you feel there like in one big family. Hostel is located 3min from the beach, has all you need (two kitchens, bar, pool table, bikes for rent, hand made training station, hammock, …) and is very clean. I really can warmly recommend this place!

A wonderful place

I arrived at the hostel late at night during the off-season...I surprised the owner to show up without a reservation.  But I'm so glad it worked out!  Paloma wasn't my favorite town on the coast yet this hostel is a bit outside of town just a block from a very quiet beach.  There are free bikes you can use to ride into town...and the best part is the art.  There's a little cinema and a fire pit and it's just a really cool cool spread!  I've traveled a lot and have stayed in many hostels all over the world.  So I feel like somewhat of an expert when I say this spot is special.  Sergio and Natalia went above and beyond to help me feel comfortable (even though just being in this space is all that's needed).  I strongly recommend just going here to enjoy life!  The room I stayed in had a great view of the ocean (over top of another building).  It was very peaceful.

Surprise best part of my trip

Stayed at La Brujula hostel for several nights over New Years and it was an amazing experience. Sergio, Natalia and their family were so welcoming and made us feel so comfortable. The celebrations on NYE were a massive highlight. All of the food they provided was amazing - especially the breakfast and home made breads. The room was clean and tidy. All of the facilities were excellent. The hostel is also in a perfect location, just a short walk to the beach. Would definitely return to La Brujula and thank you Sergio and Natalia for your amazing, friendly hospitality! 

Amazing Hostel!

I stayed here for three nights over New Years, it is by far the top two best hostels I have stayed in, I can’t explain how lovely the host were Sergio and Natalia, such a pleasure meeting there lovely family and friends, the staff were awsome, beautiful food, close to the beach, good vibes and only a ten minute walk to the supermarket, what more could you want ???

One of our favourite places in all of SA. You have to stay here to feel relaxed, totally at home and experience the welcoming nature of the hosts Sergio and Gabriela. We loved it so much we stayed here twice. Rooms are small (4 bed dorm) but everything has been thought of here . Beds comfortable, loads of bathrooms, excellent outdoor kitchen & a campfire every night. Not to mention a fully stocked bar, free bikes, cinema room, lots of nooks & crannies to relax, a vegetable garden, piano. The hosts are so wonderful and helpful. You feel like you are at home. They put a lot of effort into keeping the place clean and tidy and update things regularly. The breakfast is homemade  bread and cakes, cereals, tea/coffee, fruits, yoghurt- really good.  The walk to the beach is 5 minutes and you can cycle to a nearby shop called El Dorado in about 10-15 minutes. Some people might not like that but we loved being outside the town. I'll never forget this place, was very special. Do not hesitate, book here to stay!!!

The best place in La Paloma

I have had quite a few disappointing experiences when it comes to accommodation in Uruguay and when this place was recommended to me, I decided to try it and I have to say it was the best decision!!!
I stayed in a 4-bed dorm, which was clean and airy. You were able to see the ocean from the window. The whole building as well as the showers and toilets seemed quite new. There are other buildings with rooms that have a few more beds in them, but they looked good as well and there were enough bathrooms to accommodate all the guests.
There are many opportunities to sit down and chill...hammocks, sofas, chairs, benches and a lush garden...with surroundings as beautiful as that one doesn't even care, if the town center is quite far! But if you want or need to go into town you can use a bicycle for free. 
The walk to the beach is short.
The breakfast is included and I think it is amazing. Gabriela bakes the bread and the cake herself...most of the time the food is still warm, there are several spreads and fruit and a huge variety of cereal, yoghurt, milk, coffee, tea...
In the evening they put on the Parilla and people put their meats and veggies over the fire...great vibe.
The owners are lovely and I wish I could have had a better conversation with them, but my Spanish is still bad (I just started to learn). Sergio even fixed my flip flop, that had broken...thx so much for that.
If I come back to Uruguay...this is the place I will return to!

I did not want to leave!

i travelled 3 month through south america, and this is really one of the best places i stayed. the atmosphere is just special, i felt so welcome from Beginning on. there is a fire every night and the room are clean. 5min walk to beach. the owners are one of the friendliest and most helpfully people i have ever met. i really want to come back to this beautiful place!
