Hostel Colonial

We really enjoyed our stay at this hostel. Although it’s slightly shady location, but that’s how we perceived Huaraz overall, we felt very safe and comfortable. In our case, the room was ready even before the official check-in time, which we appreciated a lot after a long journey by bus. It was also nicely clean and tidied. There is a common, well-equipped kitchen that can be used for personal cooking. This can be quite handy when staying there for a longer period of time because one will get tired of eating bread with marmalade every single morning. Now, I would like to highlight one thing that really helped us a lot. The guy who owns this hostel can organize multiple trips or other activities, for example, one-day trips to Laguna Parón or Laguna 69. Since we arrived in Huaraz on Sunday, all agencies for travelers offering such trips were closed. We asked him on Sunday evening if he can arrange one of the trips for Monday morning. He organized everything immediately and we truly enjoyed both of our trips. We could directly pay him and most importantly, the prices were exactly the same as if you had them organized by any of the local agencies. For dog lovers, there is also a super cute, cuddly and friendly dog that welcomes you at the door sometimes. Overall, we had a good experience with this hostel. I would recommend this hostel to backpackers and hikers. Nevertheless, this hostel is also family-friendly.
