Couldn't find the office to book in and no one in the complex at all. Address was right, but the lights were out. Stayed at another location that cost more than plan that night. Had a looked at this place in the daylight while moving on. It was the same in the daylight as it was at night and looked closed. Have photos, but no time to post them.

Anyone Home

They caught us during a winter storm, We stayed in Williams on road trip, coming back prices tripled due to a storm. Unfortunately, it appeared that all the motels were doing it. The only thing grand about this motel was the price. Tiny bathroom with no heat. We had to put a towel under the door to block the cold air and whatever else to come through. We'll avoid the whole town next trip.

Price gouging during winter storm

The owner, Rich, could not have been more welcoming.  The property was very clean.

We stayed overnight here on a recent classic car cruise and Rick (owner/manager) was very accommodating in putting us in a room with a secure tucked-away parking spot for our car. We really appreciated the special care. The location near the South Rims Wine & Beer Garage was perfect for our Route 66 cruise group.

The motel is truly a labor of love for the owner and he is making every effort to preserve this wonderful property which is on the Register of Historic buildings. Be aware, however, that this huge undertaking is still underway and there is ample evidence of it's "work in progress" status. The room we stayed in was very nice and very clean and had a small microwave and refrigerator, but otherwise minimally furnished - a table or other horizontal surfaces upon which to place things were lacking. Working within the confines of architecture from a previous era makes for a charming ambiance, but awkward placement of the TV, small bathroom, etc. 

The "continental breakfast" was very limited and could be better, but there was really good coffee to start the day :-) 

We will return here to stay and check on progress of this delightful property and its window to the early days of Route 66.

Nice historic motel with very accomodating owner and great loacation

Room was clean and had slight renovations. Host was amazing. Needs a bathroom renovation and some new bedding.

Nice last minute stay

So perfect! The rooms are cozy and the new beds are heaven to sleep on. I loved all of the history! We were given great information for activities and food in the surrounding area. Mix it all together with beautiful weather and I really didn’t want to leave! The table area was our only challenge as it’s really tight to get in and out of as a grown adult but it wouldn’t be a deterrent since there is a beautiful pavilion that you can eat at outside.

A classic 1930's hotel that is a must if you are traveling Route 66.  Clean room, comfortable bed, continental breakfast and a very friendly owner.  This was our second stay with Rich and he is very knowledgable of the area.  He continues to remodel and improve the motel while still maintaining it on the National Register of Historic Places.

We were traveling on a motorcyle pulling a trailer and he allowed us to park our trailer in the car port next to our room when we took day trips to the area.

We walked to downtown shoping, restaurants and the Grand Canyon Railroad. A short drive to Bearrizona Wildlife Park and an easy day drive to the south rim of the Grand Canyon.

Vacation

Grand Motel's best asset is the owner, Rich. He waited up till 10.15pm for us, gave us plenty of local and Canyon info, provided a nice Continental breakfast, enjoyed under the outdoor shelter and made us welcome.

One Hour From Grand Canyon

The night we were supposed to check in we were running late which meant we wouldn’t get there until after office hours. I called the motel and talked to Rich who was very accommodating. When we arrived at 11:30pm he was there and got us checked in. He was a great host. Made us feel like we were actual guests at someone’s home. The motel was really cute. It was like stepping back in time. I studied hotel/restaurant management so it was really fun staying in the first motel built on Route 66 in Williams and knowing the history of motels. Since it’s also a historic building it’s being kept as authentic as it can be. The beds were really comfy too. Better then some hotels I’ve stayed at. The room was really clean and it was nice having a fridge and microwave I would highly recommend staying here if you want to have a Route 66 experience. Additionally, if you book a motel, especially a historic motel, do not expect to have the luxuries of a hotel like an ice machine or room service. That’s what keeps motels like this quant.

Great Historic Motel on the Morher Road

The day we got there for check in nobody was there. I had to call the motel and then he shows up late. During the check in process he spoke very harshly to an elderly couple who decided not to stay there.We decided to check in to the hotel next door as well,which was great. My wife called to cancel the reservation through Expedia and the representative got a hold of him and he was rude to her as well, before he hung up on her he stated we would still be charged.She attempted a second phone call and the same thing. So sad that hospitality and manners are not on this motels list. Please, please do not stay at this place. We travel to Williams AZ frequently and have never experienced anything like this. And to be fair because we didn't stay there I can't say anything about room cleanliness and room comfort  on the survey that's why it's marked ok.
