This place is beautiful and relaxing. The owners are very helpful and kindhearted. The food is amazing. The horseback riding was so much fun too. This place is great for families and couples. I would go back  in the future.

We booked this for a four day weekend with our four year old daughter. Any review that says this gem is terrible was probably written by someone who is a prissy, high maintenance germaphobe and always attached to their phone.

-It's the middle of NOWHERE - so if you want a place to unplug, relax, and be surrounded by nature, COME HERE.  Cell phone reception is very patchy but there is wifi at the lodge. If you think you're going to be able to telework, think again. 

-ALL activities and meals are included!!! There is a self serve bar that works on the honor system....just keep a tally of what you drink and Ruth will settle it up with you when you check out. 

-The staff is wonderful! Ruth is a little rough around the edges but a phenomenal cook, great life stories I could listen to for hours, lots of advice, and just a hoot! El ("L") helps out in the dining area and was spectacular! Of course COVID means they don't have a ton of staff but she ran her butt off making sure everyone was taken care of at meal time. Duffy, the ranch wrangler is awesome and made sure even us beginner riders knew what we were doing on a horse. She had a bit of an issue with her horse on a ride but handled it professionally and walked the rest of the way leading the horse so ensure her safety and that of others. She's great with the little kids and really shows them how life on a ranch is. Our four year old daughter LOVED her and said she was "her cowgirl." Bill is pretty much a jack of all trades. From cooking meals, driving us city slickers out to the horses (the bridge got destroyed by a flash flood) and shooting range, to keeping an eye on our daughter (and putting her to work!) for a couple hours while we went on a ride (yes, we 100% trusted him), he was a pleasure to be around and chat with. Doesn't appear to be too talkative but he's a wealth of knowledge with a dry sense of humor. 

-Our cabin was wonderful and we could hear a waterfall at night. There was a room for us and a separate one for our daughter. Good water pressure and hot water, a back porch. Very cozy and we slept like rocks! The pool is heated and towels and floats are provided. Though we didn't use the hot tub, it is rather awesome! Overlooks the creek and a real in ground hot tub....not a cheap jacuzzi like you'd have on your back porch. 

-Meals were AMAZING! Ruth is a fantastic cook and takes into account special diets. Depending on the meal, some were served buffet style, some El would come to your table and take your order and serve you. There was always a couple options but not a full blown menu. We are vegan and Ruth prepared something delicious for us each meal without a problem. The breakfast ride was AWESOME! Hour horseback ride up a mountain to a clearing where Bill cooked a massive yummy breakfast over a camp fire in a clearing. The flapjacks are to die for!

I highly recommend this place! They do take proper precautions in regards to COVID and due to the activities being physically distanced naturally, there wasn't much need for  a mask. Again, if you're a germaphobe and feel the need to whip out your hand sanitizer every time your touch something, please just stay home. One family was clearly a tech- addicted family always huddled in the same spot on the porch to get a good wifi connection on their phones....so ridiculous.  Unplug, relax, and enjoy it!!!!

Normally there are scheduled kids' activities but due to COVID, they did not have that available. We had an amazing time, the staff was really great with our daughter and occupied her from time to time.

STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!

Totally wonderful!  Great food, hospitality and ambience.  Cabins are rustic and cozy.  The vibe of the place is exceptional and friendly.  The food is wonderful.  Ruth, the owner, is full of stories and advice - and is a gem.  Bill is very knowledgeable and helpful.  Duffy, the wrangler, is exceptional and very helpful.  All the other staff, Ben, Alisha, Brian and others are terrific at anticipating and meeting guest needs.  We will make it an annual trip for us.  In fact, I liked it so much that I forgot to leave and stayed an extra unplanned day!  I'm already missing the place.

Ruth, Bill, Duffy, & Daniel took such great care of our family! Coffee Creek Ranch is just what was needed for us to all disconnect from the daily grind and distractions, and reconnect with each other and nature. Thank you all so much for making the our stay such a magical one, and we can't wait to return (the kids keep asking if we can do it again this weekend!).

This is a beautiful, serene, rustic guest ranch run by the owners who are down-to-earth, genuine and caring. If you want fancy dude ranch resort luxury this is not for you, but if you want unforgettable horse rides through the breath-taking Trinity Alps on sure-footed mountain horses, scrumptious and plentiful home-made meals (Ruth the owner/chef is writing her own Coffee Creek cookbook, and even planned our meals around our dietary restrictions), a friendly staff who caters to your specific needs as best they possibly can, and a woodsy cabin to escape the madness of big city life, check this gem out.  
The horses were well cared for and turned out in large pastures in the evenings to graze and munch on hay. They have horses for various levels of riding ability. Along with some quiet rides through the majestic trees we also had some exhilarating hand gallops along the fire roads. Too much fun!  My only regret is that I could not stay longer. 

I called CCR  because I wanted to spent a day horseback riding.  Bill, Ruth and especially Duffy were warm, friendly, generous, and accommodating!  I had so much fun, and can’t wait to visit again next summer with the grandkids!  They treat everyone like friends and family.

This place isn't fancy, but it GREAT! The food is simple, but very good. The accomodations are rustic, but enjoyable. The people that stay there and the staff are very friendly. The property is a little worn, but charming. The place is in a great area for launching to all manner of ourdoor adventures. Can't wait to come back!

Our group of seven had some good ole fashioned fun at this sweet family owned ranch. The cabins have a western decor and are simple and unfussy. The two we booked were configured well with bunks, singles, queens, and a futon. I chose a top bunk and it took me right back to summer camp. The sound of the water flowing in the creek put us all right to sleep. After a traditional breakfast of bacon, eggs, and hash browns, our group hit the trail for the high country. Bill and his horse packing crew loaded up our gear and dropped it at a base camp near Union Lake. We spent several days camping and doing day hikes to pristine mountain lakes. On our last day the horse packers came right on schedule to pick up our gear and take it back to the ranch. We had a grand trip. Everyone at the ranch was welcoming and helpful and we look forward to doing it again next year.

The Trinity Area is one of the most beautiful areas not only in CA. but in
the U.S. and Coffee Creek Ranch is the place to come and enjoy it. Great
Trail rides, nature walks, comfortable cabins, wonderful food and
the freshest cleanest air anywhere. The lovely creek I remember from many
years ago was a raging torrent from all the recent rain but for those interested
in gold panning later in the year it should yeld nice "goodies". Had a great time
wadding in the shallow flooded area near the bridge so bring boots if you like
to do that. It was also fun going thru this area in Bill's 4 x 4 on the way to the
corral. Lots of deer sightings on walks and drives and if you like knowing
what the trees and flowers are, there are several terrific books you
get about the Trinity area greenery and wildflowers. A long drive from the 
Bay Area or the Central Valley but well worth it !!!
 Make sure Ruth tells you all about bears....AND BIGFOOT :)

The staff created a couple of small RV spots right above the creek with electric and water hook-ups.  We were so pleasantly surprised that we could stay so close to the ranch and  join in with the reunion with old friends staying in the cabins. We enjoyed the fantastic meals with our group, took a horseback ride, loved the historic old ranch established in 1900 and the super family running it and hearing about the history of the place.  Yes we would go back, really enjoyed the peace and quiet and the Fall colors. Very relaxing and homey feel.

Rustic, secluded, all-inclusive option, and absolutely peaceful and worry free!

Exceptional!

This can be an enjoyable experience if you know what to expect. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The cabins are old and dark. Do not expect to read inside; lighting is poor. Mosquitoes were not noticeable, but the bites sure were. The only real problem is that the generator is shut off about 11:00 p.m. & turned on about 7:30 a.m.
I am an early riser, but couldn't get coffee until almost 8:00 a.m. It would be nice if electricity were turned on earlier & a Keurig coffee maker placed in the dining room.

There is so much to do here! We stayed for a week, and all of us went horseback riding, fishing, panning for gold, shooting, and swimming. My husband and daughter enjoyed horse lessons from Jim the wrangler and are now hooked! The food was amazing, especially the barbecues and campfire s'mores. The breakfast ride experience was one we will always remember. Our room was comfortable and spacious and the staff very friendly. We can't wait to come back.
