I love Roosevelt for the location to Lamar Valley. The cabin without bath was clean and it had all I needed. The restroom was in a separate building but it was no problem to go there and almost every time I was there it was empty. I like sitting on the front porch of the lodge building and relaxing. I also found the restaurant quite good. There aren't many of these cabins and they go fast so reserve at your first opportunity.

We LOVED Roosevelt Lodge Cabins.  Our only regret was not reserving it for a longer stay.  We only had one night, and it was perfect for checking out Lamar Valley and some local hikes.  It was quiet and very restful, with not as many tourists as we experienced at Old Faithful Inn.  We had a cabin without a bathroom, but we were super close to the bath/shower rooms, and this wasn't a big deal.  The beds were comfortable and we had a good night's sleep.  We didn't realize we had left a window open, and it got a little chilly, but once we realized that, the temperature drop made sense.  It was also nice that we could park just outside our door.  It made hauling in our stuff easy.  Everyone was super nice, and check-in was quick.

We're Montanans, and try to visit Roosevelt every year or so.  But the pandemic and floods kept us away for several years.  It was good to get back to Roosevelt, and to see how well it is now being managed.  We stayed in one of the cabins without bathroom; the cabin was clean, neat, well maintained, rustic and simple.  The bed was comfortable.   The common shower/sink/toilet building was a two minute walk away and was also clean and well maintained (but simple and very compact).  The shower there worked very well.  And the towels provided were excellent.  In our cabin, there were also bins for recycling and composting.   Parking is limited and tight, because the cabins are quite close together.  But the natural sounds and scenery all around were excellent.  

Roosevelt is, by far, the most quiet and low key of the accommodations within the park.  While we were there, a sow bear and her cubs wandered through the grounds.  

The dining room in the lodge building was just a three minute walk from our cabin.  The interior continues to be very authentic and attractive:  there's the front desk for checking in to cabins, a pleasant sitting area, a coffee bar and then the dining area.  The lodge is of log construction.   We ate there three times (dinner twice, breakfast once) and enjoyed each meal.  Staff wear Western garb, and were very well ltrained:  they were cordial, attentive, efficent and professional.  Our meals arrived promptly and were excellent in all regards.  The menu is Western themed, and features ingredients sourced locally from Montana and Wyoming.   The bison burger was especially good, as was the cole slaw, Yellowstone caldera dessert and Cream of the West pancakes and huckleberry syrup.  Views from our table were very nice.   After dinner, we sat on the porch in rocking chairs and enjoyed the natural sounds while a marmot hung out just feet away.

During our three day stay, our entire experience at Roosevelt was very good in all respects.  Do keep in mind that there is no cell or internet service (but hey, you're in a national park, so who needs it?), that nights can get chilly even in summer, and that things at Roosevelt are simple and rustic.

This review is for the Roosevelt Lodge restaurant.

After a long Lamar Valley drive, we decided to stop and eat at Roosevelt Lodge restaurant.  What a pleasant surprise - sit down table service, which is rather uncommon in Yellowstone.  We had the half rack of baby back ribs.  It was one of the best ribs I've had in a long time - succulent, meat falling off the bones and Tasty, even without the bbq sauce.

We were waiting for our stage coach ride and decided to stop in for a quick breakfast. Wow! So expressed with the food, history, service, everything. So glad we stopped in. It exceeded our expectations. The breakfast was delicious and the service fantastic. Great place to stop in if waiting for stagecoach or horseback ride.

We had a great stay at Roosevelt last week.  We initially had a roughrider cabin booked (with no bathroom).  However,  a frontier cabin with a bathroom became available the week before our trip so we upgraded!  The cabin was very clean and had nice western decor.  The beds were comfortable and it was nice to be able to park our vehicle right next to our cabin.  We had reservations for the cowboy cookout so it was so convenient to walk from our cabin to and from the stables.  We also bought some snacks and wine at the gift shop/general store on site which was handy.  The next morning, we woke up before sunrise to head to Lamar Valley.  This is the perfect location to stay to get there early, as it's very close by.   I really enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to stay again! 

We booked one of the few cabins (#77) with a bathroom (added bonus).  Last time we had a cabin without which just required a short walk to the communal bathrooms. The cabins are wonderful, clean, and offer a cozy feeling. The area is serene and quiet offering some relaxation away from the crowds that you find in other areas of the park. Be sure to book a Cowboy Cookout if you have an opportunity as this was a class A experience. The production was superb, and we saw a black bear, a coyote, and numerous Bison on the chuckwagon ride to the cookout. The songs and storytelling was wonderful. And that cowboy coffee was fantastic!  All employees of the lodge and cookout out were wonderful and helpful. 

This is more of a memorial than a review.  We stayed in one of the cabins on Friday and Saturday.  The park was closed on Monday because of road damage caused by flash floods.  It looks like it might be quite a while before this part of Yellowstone is open.  So, I would just like to say thank you to everyone on the staff for making our 40th anniversary trip to Yellowstone so memorable!

We loved our little cabin in  Roosevelt.   We stayed a few days in mid-August and it was perfect weather for hiking and adventures.  Went on the Horseback ride/cookout and had a great time.  My hubs couldn’t quite make it comfortably on the horse so they quickly added him on the wagon ride to the cookout and all went well.   Our cabin was clean and well appointed.   This was our first stop in Yellowstone and after a staying in other lodgings, this was our favorite.   Many less tourists than Canyon and Old Faithful made it much more relaxing.   The food was good in the restaurant and everyone was helpful.  

To quote John Muir..”To sit in solitude, to think in solitude with only the music of the stream and the cedar to break the flow of silence, there lies the value of wilderness.”

A 4 star due to the historical aspects. We had a cabin with 2 double beds with a bath. Cabin was clean, bath and shower were fine. Slept with windows open (they have screens) as temps were good - but it was noisy with others using flashlights going to the communal bathrooms all night - and I felt like chipmunks or bears may come into our cabin haha. Arrived at 2pm, couldn’t get into our room until almost 4pm. Not much to the lodge, attached restaurant, and store. Liked that we could park right beside our cabin. We did the cowboy chuck wagon dinner, which was good and well organized (Note it’s BYOB!).

We couldn't get two nights in the cabins with bathroom, so I got to experience the roughrider cabins without a bathroom and the more expensive bathroom cabins. The roughrider are basic, a notch above tent camping, but have a bed, wood stove and communal bathrooms. I mean the outside temp is your inside cabin temp, there is no lying about it, so the nights can be really cold and so are you. I still thought it's ok for a night and definitely wouldn't have an issue during warmer temps. It's a great economical choice if you are on a budget, but want to stay inside the park. The communal bathrooms were clean and we never had an issue finding an open shower or stall to use. 

The bathroom cabins were really nice, heater kept us toasty and warm. Shower was nice and hot and there was plenty of space to move around. They got a fan for warm nights, which I assume you definitely need later on in the season. Great choice if you can snag one of them.
