Tom greeted us when we arrived and gave us recommendations of where to venture in town. The room was nicely appointed and the bed very comfortable. Judy and Tom served a wonderful breakfast and gave us the recipe. I can’t wait to make it at home. The property had lovely gardens and overlooked the river. I highly recommend The Black Lantern B & B.

We had a wonderful, though short stay at the Black Lantern B&B. The host and hostess were very welcoming, offering our choice of sitting areas to have a cocktail before heading into Brunswick for dinner. We had a room at the back of the house overlooking their beautiful , flowering property extending down to the Androscoggin River. The room was cheery, large and very clean. 
We enjoyed conversing with the host and hostess who were friendly and outgoing. The breakfast was outstanding--, coffee, fresh fruit, juice and scones followed by an apple pancake and eggs. We highly recommend the Black Lantern B&B, and only wish that we would have discovered it earlier!

Our stay was very enjoyable. I loved the flower gardens and the nice outdoor spaces. We spent one evening just relaxing outside and enjoying the weather and the view. The hospitality was top notch and the breakfasts were excellent.  And the room was very comfortable.

The Black Lantern was a joy. Judy and Tom Connelie were quintessential hosts. Upon our arrival, Tom gave us a rundown on the facilities and provided ideas on where to eat.  We stayed in the Fireplace Room, which has a gas fireplace installed for the cooler months.  The room was appealing and thoughtfully decorated.  Every possible detail was accounted for.  We lacked for nothing (not to mention the M & M's in the hallway).  Breakfast was excellent!   If you want to relax in a chair with a view of the Androscoggin River, that is available also.

Very comfortable room. Three walls of windows, lovely breeze, slept like a baby. Warm and friendly hosts made helpful recommendations for dinner and dessert in nearby Brunswick. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the dining room and had a great time chatting with the other guests. Top notch experience all around. Will be back! Thank you!

We were very impressed with our 1-night stay at Black Lantern B&B.  Very comfortable room (Androscoggin room), delicious breakfast, quiet, nice view of the river.  The property was well-maintained and clean.  Tom and Judy were welcoming and charming hosts.  We enjoyed walking to dinner at the delightful Sea Dog BrewPub.  We look forward to returning again next year.

The home was beautiful, our room was charming with period decor and very comfortable. It is located in historic Topsham on the river.  The gardens are beautiful.  And our host was very nice.  Her breakfasts were so good.  I will stay here again. 

This B&B deserves the number one rating in Topsham but probably anywhere around. Five stars are not enough. My only regret was that we stayed only one night (we were on our way from Boston to Acadia). Tom was very courteous as we arrived a few hours late. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. Tom and Judy obviously have attended to every detail in the house. That said, the house has a lot of character. Inquire about things you notice. My wife makes quilts and Judy was interested in showing her the quilts that she makes. Breakfast was excellent and fulfilling. Hopefully we can return soon and spend more time. Don’t miss this B&B, you’ll be sorry! 

Wonderfully charming property and Tom was accommodating to our needs. Breakfast was above and beyond what we expected. They provided us with suggestions and clear directions for local sites based on our interests. We hope to return and spend more than one evening!

Quaint B and B, beautiful spot and great hosts! Judy cooked a beautiful breakfast meal while Tom was a great source of info! We especially enjoyed his suggestion of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and driving back 32 along the coast! So beautiful!

Really Nice B&B

Wonderful place !

Charming old house, perfectly described on website. Fun eclectic decor, river below, easy parking, pretty garden. Close to highways. Wonderful breakfasts.  Tom and Judy are perfect hosts. Only consideration for less-that-fit travelers are that the two bedrooms must be accessed by steep and shallow stairs.   

Charming B&B, welcoming hosts

Tom and Judy have a exceptional bed and breakfast. Close to Brunswick and all that it has to offer. While there wasn't "too much winter" during our stay in January, the Fireplace Room was cozy and comfortable. And what breakfasts! Plus, since we left prior to breakfast on our last day, they gave us a "brown bag" breakfast that hit the spot!

Wonderful weekend

We stayed here towards the end of September. Our hosts were very pleasant and were helpful, and knowledgeable about the local area. The rooms were very nice, and peaceful.  There is even a garden area, where you can sit and overlook the local river.  The breakfasts were delicious.  I can highly recommend this establishment. We plan to return.

Excellent place for a relaxing stay

This was our second stay at the Black Lantern and it was even better than our first time. Judy and Tom are wonderful hosts. They really made us feel at home. Judy prepares a great breakfast and Tom has a wealth of knowledge about the area. Our room was comfortable and clean. We are definitely going back.
