Slumber Inn

The Slumber Inn is a great motel in West Texas half way between San Angelo and Brady.  The rooms are always clean, the beds are good, the shower is hot and it has all of the amenities you would expect in a motel.  Mini Fridge and Microwave are included as well as WIFI and basic cable TV.  The one thing I really like about the motel is the staff.  Rosie is the best and always takes great care of us.

A great motel in West Texas

You may have heard of John Steinbeck's novel "East of Eden."  Well, the Slumber Inn is located west of Eden--Eden, Texas that is.  Not to be confused with the Garden of Eden.  

The Slumber Inn is a sad, run-down motel on the edge of town.  But the price was right, and I was dead tired after driving quite a while.  My room was shabby, but clean, and the bed appeared to be clean as well.  The heater worked and kept the room comfortable.  I slept well, and the next morning took a warm shower.  The towels were thin, but I still got dry, and then I left.  The main things I look for in a motel, I got.

A run down motel, but I slept well and had a warm shower.

Don't waste your money.....yer better off going to San Angelo to be comfy......get what you pay for  and be able to understand the person behind the desk. They say they have wifi and they do.....but you have to go outside to get it.....they don't honor the price shown on the web and they lady behind the desk is not very personable.  Our room was full of bugs......and had a odd smell.  My next visit to Eden we will either stay with family or make the drive to Angelo and stay there......will be worth the drive.

'Slum' Inn

I tried to check in but the woman could not find my reservation.  Then she said I could have a room but I would have to pay cash because she didn’t know how to charge to a credit card.  She also wanted to know what they usually charge because she didn’t know the rates.  I wound up staying in Brady over 30 miles away!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HORRIBLE PLACE!

We went to Slumber Inn recently, as our campsite nearby had no water. We were utilizing a hotel room in order to shower. We came early in the morning and the doors were locked with a sign that said "we are working outside. Please come find us."
After tracking down the owner in a room, she said she was busy cleaning and we could just come back later. We tried to tell her we wanted to pay but she was rushing us off, saying "plenty of rooms when you come back" *sigh* So, we left. We returned around 4pm that day, and this time the door was unlocked, but no one was there. I rang the bell, yelled HELLO. nothing. After looking around, I started to get grossed out because their kitchen is in the check in/out area and her toothbrush was sitting on the drying rack. gross. Anyways, After about 10 minutes, she emerges from a room and complains that she is so busy, she is having plumbing issues, etc. Not really my fault. 
She quickly gives us a room and extra towels (which she acted like it pained her to do so), she rushed us out. Mind you, we are only there for showering, not staying the night. She asked repeatedly if we were using the beds and we said No. So, I'm betting she didn't clean those sheets, even though we did sit on the beds.... We get to our room and the key doesn't work. UGHHHHHH
I have to go track her down AGAIN and she told me to take her master key and bring it back ("Bring it right back, do you understand!?") I asked her if she could walk with me, as we were already inconvenienced. She sighed, rolled her eyes, and followed me to my room to unlock the door. During the minute long walk she complained and again told me she was too busy to be doing this she was having issues, etc. She opened our room, and never gave us another key. We showered quickly- because it was gross. NOT worth a $70 shower. I didn't feel any cleaner when I left. Everything was musty and dimly lit; there was hair in our shower and a soap wrapper, so thank goodness I wore flip flops. Anyway, don't stop here. The owners are rude (the woman anyway) and very unhelpful. She made my family feel as if we were inconveniencing her for requesting a room. Then, the room was disgusting. Save your money, make the trip to San Angelo.

Filthy, unkept... Worth the drive to go to San Angelo

Has to plug peep hole as it is installed backward. Lied about wifi.  I brought in my pistol.Why the place is called Slumber Inn yet the wifi is called Frontier, I have no idea but the strong signal was Slumber Inn and they did not give the password for the only strong signal
