Comfortable, accommodating, and beautiful! This was a great place.

This is a delightful small hotel. I stayed in room 10 which has a private patio area. I loved the warm pastries delivered to outside the room door at 7:30 am.

Only spent one night here, but everything about the experience was lovely. Will definitely book again and would recommend without any hesitation.

Loved being close to all the shops! Quiet and clean. Lovely service at front desk.

Wonderful Hotel and Element Restaurant is right on site. Great rooms and excellent staff,,,,we will return!

Front desk staff were super helpful when we couldn't work out the airconditioner. Loved that there were homemade cookies on arrival. (Wine also in the evening if you wanted.) Walkable, as right downtown, but still in a quiet area. So clean and comfy. Loved there was a unexpected outdoor patio. Went to breakfast at the onsite restaurant which was very yummy. Local told us about Gold Dust Pizza off the main strip and still walkable. Fabulous outdoor area and great pizza with no wait! Great stay! Thank you for having us!

Great place to stay while exploring Sutter Creek and the local wineries.

This place is amazing! We love our room and the staff! The bar downstairs is great and breakfast was delicious this morning. The complimentary coffe/tea and scones are a wonderful touch, too.

The room was GORGEOUS but we would probably not come back because of the very noisy lobby which was connected to the restaurant. A loud party was literally ten feet from our room for several hours. Any other hotel would not have this happening. We wanted a quiet one night romantic getaway - yelling and partying outside our door, even in as early as 8:45pm, was not what we pictured.

The staff were all excellent, above and beyond.  Room was clean and functional.  The location is perfect.  The breakfast selection is great!  The waffle is my favorite.  The reasons for not giving a 5-star review: The show is odd. It has a wide overhead drip that tickled my bald head (not in a good way).  There is an immbile glass enclosure covering half  of the shower/tub. To turn the faucet on you must go around it and stand in the tub.  The arrangement is just odd.  If you have to leave shampoo in your hair for a time, you'll have to lean oddly to avoid getting it washed out too soon.The mattress was quite worn, with a pronounced bulge along the center.There is no ref/microwave in the rooms. Only in the larger cabins. So be prepared in case you bring leftovers home.

Wow.  You'd never expect a hotel of this quality in Sutter Creek.  Beautiful furnishings, clean and quiet.  Stayed on a Sunday night, and thankfully, it was practically empty.  After thousands of nights over the past 40 years, this was a winner.  Quite possibly the only place worth staying in the area.  Would absolutely stay again.  No hassles or disappointments.  Scones/breakfast first-class.  No elevator to the second floor, but we (a pairs of 60+s) didn't need one.

Excellent Surprise

Wonderful experience at this small hotel. Large room with balcony, wifi and air-conditioning (needed in summer!), coffee/tea/scones every morning — before the made-to-order breakfast, which is also included on weekdays. The front desk/concierge person Gina was fantastically friendly and helpful, particularly since she worked in nearby wineries and can make recommendations.

Parking is included.  It's a short walk to "downtown" Sutter Creek, with its small-town cafes, antiques, and other attractions. As luck would have it, we were there during their annual Historic Ragtime Festival — impressive musicians and loads of fun.

Between wine-tasting, music, and riding all the mountain passes on our motorcycles, this was the perfect no-hassle getaway.

Great place to stay in gold country

The manager greeted us before we walked in the door. The customer service was excellent.  The room was beautiful and we were made to feel like VIPs with chocolates on our pillows, coffee service in the morning with fresh baked scones.  The restaurant had delicious food at a reasonable price with great service. We’llBe back!!

We love the Hanford House.

This was our second stay at Hanford House. The first stay was more than nine years ago when we left a 5 star review. 
Hotel lodging ages and fades fast, however the Hanford House has maintained its high quality. 
Our room was clean, modern and had all required amenities. The extra water was a good touch in view of recent very high temps. 
Service was perfect and the breakfast scones, morning coffee and included breakfast were all very good. 
We asked for white wine tasting recommendations and the hotel had a list of recommendations by wine type. Just what we needed. 
The onsite Tesla charger was another good plus. 
Highly recommend and we hope it’s not another 9 years before we return!

Highly recommend

The size of the bathroom (huge) was a surprise!  Enjoyed the shower, lots of room, shower bars, great towels.  The scones in the AM, delicious as was the coffee available in the lobby. Restaurant connected to the building, excellent check for hours open. Everyone friendly, helpful, especially the receptionist working in the early morning and afternoon. Stayed on the first floor, stairs to the upper floor a challenge for cane users. Had a great time and would stay here again.

Gina at the front desk was very helpful and friendly, they had homemade cookies and wine to sample in the lobby. Breakfast was served in the restaurant, the element, you have 5 entrees to chose from.. Fresh scones were delivered to your room in the morning, Nice sized room. would recommend, but beware that  all stores in suttercreek our closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

It was perfect for what we wanted and they even have coffee service available at 7am and warm lemon scones delivered to our front door at 7:30am.  Choice of 4 options for breakfast M-F that we choose night before. Loved that we could walk to town for dinner and it was very quiet.  Slept so well on the comfortable bed and pillow!
