Residence Inn by Marriott Miami Beach Surfside

Overall this was a win. We’ve stayed all over Miami and this trip we wanted to be close to the beach and to friends and family. This hotel was very good as the price was fair, it’s extremely clean and spacious and has good features. Highlights Room size Location Very clean Pool and deck are excellent Across the street from clean, quiet beach Access to Surfside Community pool is a great bonus Beach chairs and towels are easy to borrow Ample paid parking Lowlights Sofa bed, terrible mattress, also when opened it pressed up against then dresser, needs to be improved somehow Breakfast was dreary. Same foods and a few bizarre ones. Loose spinach leaves every morning. Why? Same boring two types of bagels and cheap bread every morning. Oatmeal always too watery and why serve raspberry sauce and fruit compote? Hot foods were terrible too: wet eggs, various sausages and weird little sandwiches, nothing was really tasty. Food area staff hostile. One morning they made a carafe of iced coffee and when it ran out I asked if they might make more and they simply said “no!”. Not sure why they don’t just make a huge container of iced coffee as that’s what people wanted anyway. The same plain yogurts and toppings made us dread the breakfast. Definitely room for improvement. Publix two blocks away is the pro move.
